It's nowhere near October, but one ensemble is already on track to be named the most controversial Halloween costume of 2015.

Social media users were out in full force on Monday criticizing several Halloween retailers for offering a Caitlyn Jenner costume reminiscent of the former-athlete's Vanity Fair cover earlier this year.

While Jenner's supporters condemned the costume as "transphobic" and "disgusting" on Twitter, Spirit Halloween, a retailer that carries the costume, defended the getup.

"At Spirit Halloween, we create a wide range of costumes that are often based upon celebrities, public figures, heroes and superheroes," said Lisa Barr, senior director of marking at Spirit Halloween. "We feel that Caitlyn Jenner is all of the above and that she should be celebrated. The Caitlyn Jenner costume reflects just that."

I'm buying more bananas just to spite her... because I AM trying to lose weight (and it's working, down one pants size and 40 lbs) and my doctor specifically said I should try them not only as a healthier alternative to typical junk-food snacks, but because my potassium levels are a bit lower than they should be and if I could stomach a small bunch of them a week, I might be able to fix that without having to take a med/supplement. Two birds.

When I saw the title, I assumed we had a Karen-tier kinesiologist or nutritionist taking some hyper-exceptional stance on a sticker that said the banana had slightly more/less calories than it did, or was promoting some "easy things you can do at home" that actually aren't good for your knees if you've got THIS little preexisting condition.... and it's even STUPIDER.

It's someone triggered by..... a picture of someone exercising.

I'm sure you're aware, but do be a bit careful with bananas if weight loss is a concern. No matter what this article's author may think, they're actually really calorie dense compared to other fruit and you can't just eat them indiscriminately. I think some countries even used them as a staple food before gaining access to easily-grown grain crops, but I could be misremembering.

Just something I felt needed saying. I just hate the thought of anybody staying fatter than they need to be for any reason, you know? All this body positivity garbage combined with profit-driven misinformation on the part of food companies just disturb me. Obesity is practically the worst self-harm you can perform without fear of intervention.

t. formerly morbidly obese, managed to gain weight by replacing meals with bananas before I looked up their nutritional values

So what does she want to do? Not exercise just because a banana told her to exercise? Yeah, like that would really teach the banana a lesson. People in the USA are suffering from very extreme and life threatening obesity and should be encouraged to exercise MORE, not less. Forcing people to die of obesity just because your offended is not the solution.

You should try prunes my dude. Sure they got that 'old people food' stigma, but in my opinion, they eat and taste similar to fruit leather and they're great for your digestion.

I frigging love prunes but I can't eat them. They're an extremely painful laxative for me. I ate several delicious handfuls once, and I never made that mistake again. I still eye them longingly when I see them.

The best part is that judging by the article, she still ate the bananas. :story:

I don't think I've ever looked at a sticker on a piece of fruit in my life.

If you're wondering how terrible these evil banana stickers are...

Yes, this certainly needed an entire article ranting about it.
Oh for fuck's sake. The ten minutes of mindfulness doesn't even require working her sedentary ass off, and it's just meditation. Is it time for the Fat Chicks In Party Hats revue?

"On no, these stickers are quite offensive and trigger me! well I suppose that if I don't like it I can EAT THEM with the banana!"

But she’s not fat!
They’re even worse than the really fat HAES people. The thin ones are women with eating disorders who push this on others as a means of control and general evil. It’s the same thing as an anorexic baking a ton of cake, bringing it to a family meal and forcing everyone to eat it, especially the people on a diet. There are a few of them on the HAES thread and they’re all pure poison and all ex or current ED patients.

I find the stickers mildly objectionable myself, but mainly because they are representative of the current trend of treating everyone like children who can't think for themselves.
