Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus Trailer Released

I didn't watch the show until years later when I was a teenager, but I hope this manages to capture that weird, gross feeling the original show had. Invader Zim wasn't exactly a kids' show, and I would like them to keep that same dark tone.

If the trailer is any indication it seems they're still keeping the spirit of the original show intact.

That was weird, gross, and melodramatic, which is exactly what I loved about the original show as a kid. This is the first reboot I’m actually interested in seeing.
Not gonna lie, but when it comes to negotiations, Nick usually obliges. Apparently, production on Rocko's Modern Life Static Cling halted because of issues with Nick's directing staff, and so Rocko's staff said "if we don't have the dirty jokes they grew up with they'll riot."

I used to be a huge fan.... until the Hot Topic Goffs got a hold of it and everything went down hill from there. Ugh. They ruined it all for me.

The fandom is hot garbage. That's why you must always hide your Invader Zim power level.

Salt.
More salt.

There's also a lot of massive sperging over the Tallest having thumbs or some shit.

I'm honestly glad they moved from the edgy goth aesthetic of the original show. Besides Zim always had a Cal Arts style to it though unlike shows today it actually worked and fit in well. Outside of the lighter color palette and slightly softer lines it still looks the same.

It's like a bunch of autists upset that Sonic's arms are blue.

With a name like “Florpus” I think we all know that means… what I mean is the movie is 99% likely to be shit.

Really? Because there's a lot of bizarre names in the series anyway. Florpus doesn't exactly stand out as being particularly weird at all. In fact, you'd expect it to be weird. And these spergs will watch it anyway. Who are they kidding.

>People complaining about the title of the movie

Did these people even watch the show? There was an entire episode where a good amount of it was spent with the background music repeating the words "Giant Peepee" over and over again.

>"Johnen's new sense of humor isn't funny

What the fuck? Did they not see the scene of GiR shooting waffles and pizza then dousing it in syrup? Or the flying moose toy thing? I'm pretty sure the series' iconic "LUL SO RANDUMMM" humor is still intact. And yes, it's still funny, fuck you.

and LOL @ the "leaked script" post. These people are such fucking babies.

Why the hell are they pretending Invader Zim was anything more than a silly dark comedy series for edgy kids and preteens? This shit's been here from the start, and said shit is what made the series so great.

Looks good but where the fuck is the Rocko's Modern Life TV movie?

I kind of forgot about this TV movie thing until this trailer, actually. It looks like this is more in the style of the comics than the original show, art wise.

I remember when I used to watch Nicktoons as a kid I woke up really early in the morning just to watch Invader Zim. I'm glad to see there's going to be a proper sendoff for the cartoon series since it ended on a Christmas episode.

Man, the hype makes me want to check out the comics.

Now there is huge discourse on Tumblr because Dib and his family have darker skin. From fans saying that there's now no excuse to white wash them (even though Jhonen literally calls them "pasty Mexicans" on Tumblr once) to fans screaming about the darker skin ruining Dibs color palette it's a shitshow. I seriously thought it a common knowledge among fans that Dib and his family were Mexican after Jhonen said so awhile back on Tumblr.

Here's a 31 year old screaming about race bending.

I literally didn't notice they had darker skin in the trailer (only noticed Gaz' hair had lightened up slightly). But then again, that's because I don't give a shit. Watching the tables turn on making Mexicans darker is bloody hilarious, though. :story:

Jhonen doesn't give a shit either which is why he barely mentions it. He even states that he never wanted to make a big deal about their race and it was just a part of their characters.

I also love his response to this question.

Oh cool I wasn't expecting to see anything about Invader Zim again after it seemed like they had been trying forever to get the show picked up again and finished and kept failing.
