Is it autistic to assume someone is stupid when they have shit tastes in entertainment?

I assume you already have a clear image when I write "shit tastes." If it's shit tastes in games it's someone who only plays tired mechanically simple and exploitative series like Call of Duty, Madden, or Fifa. If it's TV they're someone who keeps watching The Walking Dead with a passionate following, perhaps they watch really stupid sitcoms like the shows made by Chuck Lorre. And if it's books it's a grown ass adult who considers Harry Fucking Potter to be among the greatest works ever.

So yeah when I write shit tastes I'm talking about watered down, mainstream products that sell like pancakes because they're bland and easily accessible. I've met people in my life who have admitted being superfans of entertainment I consider to be complete and utter trash and I have snobbishly looked down upon them as simpletons. But now I'm wondering if I'm the sperg here since I'm placing such a high value on entertainment. And after all there's many products that I love that others could see as insipid and an utter waste of time. Not every TV Show I watch requires a "High IQ" to truly enjoy like Rick and Morty does.

I know one thing for certain, if you're a fan of The Simpsons and argue that there's no discernible difference in writing quality from the Classic 90s era to Modern Episodes you most certainly are a fucking retard. And there are such people who exist.

I don't think it's fair to make that broad a judgement, some people aren't much into the medium and look for background noise, even active if that makes sense. Or just feel good stuff that's mindless.

Now if they have bad taste in art/books/tv and music, then worry but some people may just flat out only watch movies for romance or big splashy exploding things.

I have a friend who recently got into Linkin Park and by "into" I mean the last album, the ungodly one. I am of the opinion that A Thousand Suns was their greatest album so his statement was disturbing. But, he's still my friend though.

I don't know, I think you'd be a real idiot if you let that get in the way of talking to someone. Different strokes for different folks. We have hobbies that other people may not like, and others may not like what we do all the same. As long as you're not weird with expressing what you're into regardless if it's entertainment or not (which is what gets them laughed at 100% of the time), I couldn't care less.

People prefer different forms of escape. Sometimes dumb shows are nice explicitly for the reason that you don't need to think at all when watching them. Like there's nothing to "figure out", there's no "mystery" involved.

Sometimes it's about watching stupid people doing stupid things so you can feel better about your own life. A kind of schadenfreude attitude.

There's also the concept of "suspending belief", that is if you accept that you're watching fantasy, a fantasy world with fantasy rules, then something that seems "dumb" can actually be pretty entertaining. Like most of the "science" in Rick And Morty is just technobabble nonsense, but if you simply ignore the fact that it is and just "go with it", then it can be pretty entertaining.

There's different aspects involved too, like one person may like a show because there's a certain kind of nostalgia to it that's personal to them, which may not be shared by others. Then there's those like my mom who fixate on actors and actresses, who will watch a bad show simply because it has someone they like starring in it. Star power is a VERY big thing for a lot of people. That's why certain actors and actresses get paid significantly more than others, because many people will tune in JUST to see them, like they don't even give a shit what the show is about.

And of course sometimes a thing can be so bad that it's actually kind of good, for example The Room...

Sometimes people will like something simply because it's not liked much by others as well. Like they feel it gives them a more unique or more cultured sense of taste.

TL;DR - It's not really "autistic", but it's definitely childish and naive/ignorant to assume people's... anything, based upon what they watch.

What about stupid people who use 'nice taste' as a shield? Like they put so much emphasis on how much they like and admire Pulp Fiction, The Shining and Her?
like those atheists who think they're smarter and better than everyone else because they don't believe in God, know what I mean?

Yes, and that is one of the most annoying things you can come across. Especially with religion. Talk about something that doesn't have anything to do with it and they will try desperately to make you change regardless.

The "I watched Danny Darko and already figured out it was about time travel with out seeing the directors cut" types. I hate talking to those types of movie fans. 9 times out of 10, that super smart movie that they go on and on about is the only "smart" movie they've ever seen.

It worries me that there are people in [Current Year] who still unironically watch and enjoy The Big Bang Theory

I've never really watched the show, but I've seen a lot of clips. I think the appeal is largely the goofiness of it all. Like Sheldon is supposed to be all super smart, but socially he's a complete autist/goofball. It's like he's smart, but stupid at the same time.
