Is it autistic to assume someone is stupid when they have shit tastes in entertainment?

The "I watched Danny Darko and already figured out it was about time travel with out seeing the directors cut" types. I hate talking to those types of movie fans. 9 times out of 10, that super smart movie that they go on and on about is the only "smart" movie they've ever seen.

Most of the time they miss what's really "smart" about it, like the fact that it's not just time travel, it's the method of time travel... a metal tube and death. When the plane engine hits Donnie he's able to travel back in time, or sort of "reset time" in a way, like Groundhog Day... but it's not just him, the bullet from the gun also becomes a time machine, when it hits Frank and sends part of him back into the past to interact with Donnie.

The REAL mind fuck though is that the CAR could also be a time machine when it hits the girl and kills her. So they could have done a second movie where it's about the girl skipping back into her past and revising history in some way to save both Donnie and herself... instead they did a really stupid/boring sequel involving Donnie's sister.

Or they could have done a second movie where she skips back in time and tries to save Donnie at the expense of herself, but then Frank ultimately makes another alteration by interacting with her past self that results in both of them being saved, but at the expense of Frank, so then it's like Frank sacrifices himself to save them both.

And that's ultimately WHY Frank appears in spirit form, because the end game is that he's the only one who actually winds up dying, the reason the other two are alive when they go back is because they ultimately wind up alive.

...but, again, instead of a good sequel we got shit.

If you like anything that is perceived by the internet as terrible, then no, it's a safe call.

Peer pressure rocks!

I think it depends on how much they like something that is shit. Usually, one of the biggest traits of a lolcow is obsessing over a specific thing. Just look at Chris-chan, or the 180 IQ Rick and Morty crowds. Basically, if the piece of entertainment, whether shitty or not, defines their entire life/personality, you're pretty accurate in your judgement. That being said, I think there are certain fans that automatically raise red flags, adults who are into shows designed for a much younger audience. But I think that just has to do with the vocal ones being the type who make it clear their lives/personality are defined by the show. Bronies and Steven Universe fans are the first two that come to mind. I personally can't think of a time where I met an adult fan of either franchise that didn't sperg out about it.

I've met plenty of intelligent people who only really consume the most basic bitch shit. It doesn't make you stupid, just really fucking boring.

Writing people off because of TV shows they like is pretty damn autistic though.
I’m still gonna do it if they like Steven Universe. I’ll take Bronies before that fucked up community.

I agree. It is autistic to write people off because of what TV shows they like. As for the other thing you said, it kind of depends on why they like it. They could like something for unexpected reasons which could make them more interesting.

Pretending to like things ironically that you actually like, because you're afraid of it looking autistic, is more autistic than actually liking them.
I'm not going to disagree with that statement since that is pretty autistic, but I think we have slightly different definitions of what liking something ironically means.

When I said ironically, I wasn't talking about the sarcastic or mocking sense of the word. I was talking about its meaning of being "unexpected", as in someone might like something for unexpected reasons or it's unexpected for someone like them to like it and that might make them not boring. That can include what you were talking about, but not always.

Very poor choice of words on my part, but that's how I usually hear people use it where I live. Usually not in reference to liking something, but still.

Look, It depends. If they are normal-ass people and like TBBT or American Dad, leave them be. However, If It's a deep Internet basement dweller and they watch that shit, assume away, bucko! What's the difference? Your average person has bigger concerns than the depth of fart jokes on night-time TV or whatever, the later ones instead, have little enough to actually worry so they could spend five fucking minutes thinking about what they are watching. Like all of these right wing armchair philosophers with anime pics of not some good stuff like Baccano or Mushi-Shi, but just the most bottom of the barrel in the deepest barrel of the factory of bottom of barrels, pink haired, big titties, zero personality, submisive waifu shits out there. Is not that you are using anime pics, Junior, Is that It's shitty anime. I don't have Vin Diesel in a wife-beater as a profile pic for a reason.

Doesn't everyone have a guilty pleasure or two?
For example, I love Tokyo Drift. I know it's a very dumb movie but I genuinely enjoy it.

As long as they're not trying to pretend the dumb thing they like is a masterpiece, I won't judge.

If you believe this is such a thing as objectively good and bad entertainment, you're being stupid. So if you judge someone else based on their supposedly objective rating of "taste" then yeah, you're an idiot.

If you're talking about people obsess with some piece of entertainment... well I don't care how "objectively good" it might be, that's lame and boring. Why make your life about someone else's creation?

Everybody has their guilty pleasures. It's how you ACT about it that makes a difference. I adore Harry Potter, but I'm not going to freak out over who's shipping who and what's canon and what isn't. Once you start getting angry over a fictional universe, it's time to take reevaluate your life.

And let's face it: we're get our entertainment observing the actions of an autistic manchild. We really don't have room to talk. ;)

It worries me that there are people in [Current Year] who still unironically watch and enjoy The Big Bang Theory
That show has always been god awful. It's meant for people who aren't nerds to think that's how nerds are. It's started this whole "Geeks are sexy" bullshit too.

I'm 100% confident when I say that anyone that watches My Little Pony is an autistic manchild.
I honestly don't get why anyone who isn't a little girl watches it. I understand why my 5 year old niece does because she loves ponies and is a little girl. I watch her from the time to time and she insists I watch it too instead of being on my tablet or phone. I've noticed over time that the show appeals to bronies more and more. I honestly don't understand what the appeal is to autistics.

Well if that person into cartoons like Steven Universe, in his/her early or late twenties. Then it's automatically assumed he/she has some form of autism.
I've seen the show a few times when I was at my buddy's house and his asperger kid (he literally has da spergers) loves that show. Then again he's 6 so I just assume he's a kid liking it.

True. I love watching trash tv and COPS. I love watching a trainwreck happen but I don't talk to people about it unless they share my interest. We all love watching some sort of base thing. It's just some people take their fandom too long.
