Is there a chance the 2020s could be salvaged as a good decade? - The First 2 Years may have destroyed what people will feel about the decade.

Pretty much everyone could agree that 2020 and 2021 are some of the worst years and some would even compare it to the plague and World War 2. People even go to full lengths on making documentaries detailing and giving reasons on how much these years sucked. A decent chunk of the population had miserable lives during these 2 years and even declare one of these 2 years as the worst years of their lives. To me, these years are some of the worst in a long time, It would perplex me to say 2020s was a good decade even if the last 8 years were good due to the horrors of the first 2 years. I wonder if it's even possible for a decade to redeem itself after years of tyranny and psychological warfare. I sometimes even cry knowing it's not normal anymore during these 2 years and now that these 2 years are over I am still militant on making sure it never falls back to that.

Imao, as bad as World War 2,or the fucking Black Plague, its just spoilt teenagers or excessive doomers exaggerating some particularly shitty years to worldwide destruction. Yes, the 2020s have sucked, but they are nowhere near the absolute worst moments of history humanity has endured, The black death literally killed up to a third of an entire continent, World war 2 killed over 70 million people from war, disease and famine caused by the destruction of the worlds chaos. Penicillin didn't exist till 1927, an eighth of all children would die before 10 before the Industrial revolution, life expectancy was 40 through the 19th century and a strong cold could put you underground. Not to mention the Vietnam war or all the smaller wars post world war 2. Yeah this is far from the worst we've been through, wearing masks and being locked indoors is bad but is it worse than literally running for your ass from being blown up by oncoming german spitfire planes as your city and friends and family burn in front of you? get real.

I sympathize with your perspective, but if abortion is banned now your chance (and mine) of being murdered in 15-25 years will increase significantly.

Mmmmmmmmm no. I get that more people = more chances to die. But the point is if this decade could become better it would need everyone to either become good people or everyone to become responsible.

No, I think mass immigration has ruined it, that's what people forget when it comes to their hope. I live in a rich area that's "too white" compared to the rest of the country, I was walking around the boardwalk and it's changed massively in the past 5 years. I've had professors tell me that my frame of reference is massively different than when they moved here and it was 99% white in the 1990s.

We're paying welfare to a dozen cultures which hate us, the world of even the early 2010s is gone forever.

Nah, things are too far gone now, optimistically speaking it would probably take another decade or so just to undo the damage.

Speaking for myself, but I think most people here are within the same age range (even those that aren't still pretty much apply at this point in time I guess). We got real lucky being born into a period of relative stability and prosperity despite all of the bullshit going on, kind of propping a lot of the stability up artificially. We're watching the support beams start to fail, and every "fix" tacked on fail with it. I have a lot of faith in humanity as a whole, people are pretty adaptable and I'm not so disillusioned as to think the whole world is going to end. However I do think a lot of people, including myself, don't really understand how bad things can really get as we start sliding downward.
