Is there a good reason to hate cops? - You know, besides being a criminal

I'm not talking about federal agents (compromised at best) or any specifically pro-police positions (like Blue Lives Matter, Thin Blue Line, etc.) but I'm not seeing a legitimate reason to hate local police unless they're explicitly corrupt or if you're a criminal.

Black people say they get disproportionately harassed by cops but I have no idea if that's true or not, or if it was justified or not. I do know, however, that all the biggest victims they hold up as "proof" of this discrimination, were all actual criminals. Michael Brown, Freddie Gray, George Floyd, Rodney King, and many more.

I remember back when I listened to The Dick Show he mentioned that he didn't like cops and complained about (him, not Maddox) "militarized police" but if you're a perpetual drunk, a druggie, and even admitted to stealing small items from stores, you're probably not a fan of the law in the first place.

And of course, Antifa hates cops but they're a bunch of unemployed larpers and degenerates (at best) or sociopathic monsters (at worst).

Finally, there's the issue of speeding, but again, that usually happens in small towns and probably there's a good deal of corruption/incompetence there (Uvalde cops included, but this is endemic everywhere).

So is there a reason for a person who is not a criminal to dislike cops?

I'm neutral towards cops, but I've found most of the time if you're cooperative and you don't make their lives harder they'll go pretty easy on you. The people that typically get into shit with cops are the people that actively antagonize them and go out of their way to fuck around with them.

Cops enforce laws. When the regime is bad, many of its laws will be bad. Cops enforce those laws. This is bad.

Also, police have a wide latitude to selectively persecute people or otherwise abuse their power. They can decide to be hardasses or to be lenient and get away with it to a certain extent because they are in the position of authority compared to the average citizen, at least in most of the situations where they interact with the public. Obviously not all cops do this, but the ones that do are the cause of some of the pig-hatred you see out there, people who had run-ins with it.

yes, they're almost entirely useless, only arrive after shit goes down and do very little for victims of crime, and use way too much of my tax dollars to do what little they do

they're a waste of my tax dollars.

edit to add: I encounter them as a colleague in my work often, they really are the most moronic people imaginable. I've never met an intelligent or proactive cop. They're useless.

beat/street/highway cops shouldn't even exist. We could do better for the money with just swat, a handful of detectives, and some sniffer dogs.

Remember, powerless to help you, not punish you.

Hate? No. It's not good to hate anybody, but it's bad and stupid to harbor hate for people who have the power of life and death in their hands.

I don't trust cops, but they're doing their jobs and that's something I can relate to which keeps me from being directly confrontational with them. It's better to keep that emotional distance - it's helped me walk away from encounters that could have led to unpleasant consequences for me.

Ah yes, one of very few topics in which I'll agree with the leftists.

For every altruistic boy scout cop, there are several (if not a multitude) that can't wait til they get an excuse to be violent thugs. Most cops will choose their pension 11 times out of 10 over having a shred of dignity, compassion, or moral fortitude. Don't fool yourselves: if shit hits the fan and tyranny rears its head in your country (like it has been for several years in the states, for example), most of them are not going to suddenly break ranks and side with the populace. That includes your local sheriff or town cop. The only reason you may live around cops that seem reasonable is because the mayor or governor hasn't ordered them to be their own personal stasi.

They are not your friends. They never will be. They exist to constantly impose a threat of violence if you dare decide you want to do anything daddy govt decides is bad, and let's not pretend many items on that list of no-nos are in any way reasonable.

Now, all that being said: I avoid hating anybody anymore, cops included. I certainly avoid interacting with them however possible, though.

good law enforcement is vital to a healthy society so obviously the usa has to get it completely wrong.
imo american politics only provides 2 extremes in order to destabilize everything. look at the 2 mainstream political camps and tell me i'm wrong.
1. red team, accept routine civil rights abuse with zero consequence
2. blue team, accept race based propaganda and revolution (and also lose your civil rights.)
also a disturbing amount of cops are freemasons. that shit should not even be legal but here we are.

Mindless ACAB? No. But they have no legal duty to protect you, and if your even suspected of a crime, let alone accused of one, they are not on your side even if it's not true.

I don't hate cops. I don't think they're all bad. But I wouldn't trust them, and they're people to be wary of if you have to deal with them in any professional capacity. It's telling that you can be too smart to be a cop, and even more telling how much legal immunity they have for breaking the law in the course of their job.

While it is wise to be leery of police officers, as they do enforce the law, both good and bad, I find far too often that people who are into ACAB bullshit simply hate anyone who tells them what to do, or tells them that it's wrong to steal or burn down other people's property or label everyone as "nazis" so you can beat the shit out of them.

In other words, they hate anyone who enforces law and order, or merely protects their own property, family, or even their own person. See how they reacted to Kyle Rittenhouse or that boomer with the AR15 in the gated community.

Before you hate on the cops as an institution, just remember that civilian militias have far less of an incentive (or ability) to give quarter, unlike the cops. Whatever alternative to police that commies and anarchists can offer will always be far more brutal.

Civil asset forfeiture laws being what they are is a good reason to at least be slightly suspicious of them.
Short version is the cops can take your money, car or anything else, claim you either got it as a result of a criminal enterprise or used it in a criminal enterprise and it is up to you to prove them wrong. Oh, you don't get a public defender so you better hope they left you with enough money for a lawyer.
