Is there a good reason to hate cops? - You know, besides being a criminal

Live in a small town.
The highway patrol is outsourced pretty much from every county but ours.
Most of them are useless assholes who mistreat the people; lie about charges, etc.

Have a lot of respect for Sheriffs and Deputies. But highway patrol at least here; hate ‘em

not even talking about the time they killed a bunch of inuit dogs in the 50s and 60s?

I'm torn on this. The inuit narrative was that they killed the sled dogs to keep inuits on reserves. White man's narrative is that they let dogs run amok and it was a safety hazard.

At least once a year a kid gets mauled by feral dogs on rez to this day, but also the RCMP are cocksuckers so idk.

Not being a cuckservative is reason enough to dislike cops. Morons think their thin blue line bumper sticker is going to save them from a ticket or even arrest. Although the defund/abolish the police types are equally stupid in a different way.

Modern cops and members of the military have long shed off the concept of protection of the people. They are no more than the extension of the fed and should be trusted in no more capacity than a member of the FBI or ATF. At the end of the day, they will shoot your dog, your children, and then you, in that order.

yes, because a lot of people who want to become cops are power hungry assholes and that's just a fact.

I have yet to meet a cop that did shit for me or anyone else I knew. I have seen more than a few cops give completely bullshit tickets to people I was in the car with.

I have been in serious car accidents, assaulted, pick-pocketed, etc... and every single time the extent of the police being "helpful" was filling out a form and saying "It's unlikely we'll ever catch the guy/get your property back. Sorry". I was even knocked off the road by a tractor trailer and the cop that came to take the report was skeptical that was what happened, despite one entire side of my car being smashed in! I had to show him the piece of the fucking tractor trailer that flew through my back windshield and landed in my back seat before he believed me! It happened in the middle of a snow storm, and he said "There is a restaurant about 1/2 a mile from here, if I drop you off there you can call someone to get your home, right? I have a lot of work to do" This was at 2 AM, in the middle of said storm!

Here's the problem with cops, not all are what we'd call "bad cops" but, they circle the wagons when it comes to the bad ones. Major metropolitan US cities have huge police unions which make tossing the bad officers one hell of a challenge sometimes. In other words the OK ones still protect the bad ones and pretend the bad ones don't exist, which makes them all culpable imho.

Cops all living in upper middle class exurbs and commuting into a city they don't live in is a big contributing factor to their attitudes, at least in Canada.

I think it's a lot more nuanced than simply cops being all good or all evil.

When the right people join law enforcement--those that want to serve and protect--they can be an incredible force for good in their communities.

The problem, it seems, is that a significant number of people who become officers are not at all equipped for the job, have zero people skills, and have been trained only to escalate situations and throw their power around, especially because they know that being ousted is going to be incredibly difficult. Would officers like Derek Chauvin have been jailed if there wasn't a huge gaggle of people to record his unnecessary use of force? Probably not.

It makes me think of this one Douglas Adams quote. He's talking about leadership, but I think it applies to any position of power as well:

“The major problem—one of the major problems, for there are several—one of the many major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get people to let them do it to them.
To summarize: it is a well-known fact that those people who must want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it.
To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.”

It is needed for society to respect people that wait 40 minutes before protecting children from danger.

>Be OP
>Post question about if people like the police on Kiwifarms
> Kiwi Farms is a place notorious for having a disproportionately high number of schzio weirdoes who think everything that ever happens is a special forces fed plan to put them in FEMA camps and make them gay
>The non-schzios are generally anti-authority figures which is why they are on a website dedicated to being able to say basically anything you want and complain about anyone you want in as colourful language as you want.
>Gets dozens of responses that can be summed up as: "COPS R GAY CUZ THEY ONCE TOLD ME OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HATE THEM!!!! THEY'RE ALL MEAN BULLYJERKS!!!!!"
>OP is clearly retarded if he thought he was going to get any other response on this website.

Hate? Not sure about that, but anyone would be foolish to trust them. Police and military both select for and train around obedience in addition to making sure they're able to apply pressure on anyone who breaks ranks. This means they will kill you and your family if told to even if that is not a "lawful order."

I try my best to cooperate with cops for the same reason I'd obey the mafia: I don't need no trouble. I would probably not count on them in the event of an apocalypse or natural disaster, as they'd either flee, seize everybody's food and guns, or shoot "looters" ie: anyone trying to scrounge for anything to live on. There may be a few nice and helpful ones, especially out in the sticks, but I wouldn't count on any corrupt city cops to be particularly useful.

Cops are all that stand between you and the people intentionally inflicting misery on you. Imagine what you could accomplish and how much of your country you could clean up if the cops were not a factor.

Nowadays in my country they are just giving out speeding tickets because it makes them a lot of money. They are totally useless, so much that a couple of 13 year old nafris can outsmart them easily. I think half of new cops are women as well, who just cruise around in their expensive police cars all day, looking for ordinary people to shit on while actual criminals run free.
