What happened on mumsnet?

I lurk the feminists boards there, trying to ignore the man hating, just to see if they raise any legitimate issues. They talked about a common male mentality that might be be putting their daughters in danger. I wasn't sure if they were right but it concerned me so I raised it here. Big mistake. Don't post when you're not fully there.

I'm more or less fully back now and I apologise. I hope the mods will forgive me. You guys are the only friends I have and I don't want to get banned.
I didn’t see this thread in real-time, so while reading it I was struck by how much of the action happened just on Friday. In the space of one day you went from (justifiable) panic mode to your comedown. There’s a lot to be done to help you recover for sure, but this thread is a great example of why it’s imperative not to pick a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

Sometimes the situation it feels like we’re in is NOT the situation we’re in. Don’t trust your brain that much.

There are many medications that can provoke restless leg syndrome and variations of it that afflict the entire body, including allergy meds and bupropion. I recently was hit by a seven hour Kafkaesque episode in which it felt like my lungs or chest were being constantly tickled, and I can see how such an experience could make someone rope.
I’m sure it looked like I had Tourette’s as I swung my arms at an invisible boxer while trying to fall asleep, just to get a half a second of relief from the maddening feeling in my chest. Apparently people often get the same sensations across their bodies, including wrists, hands, and even teeth. Straight up not a good time.
However as the show highlights, many obese people aren't obese because they just love an extra bag of chips rather they have some mental health issue that manifests in binge eating.
“some”

A buddy of mine is a bariatric surgeon, and according to him many super morbidly obese people often start out as a tad chubby and then make food their drug when they gain weight. But he said the majority he sees have been affected by elevated ghrelin levels that led them to become so yuge.

As he put it, “‘Just don’t eat, fatty’ to these people is like trying to tell me not to drink any water after mowing my lawn in 100 degree weather for a few hours. But most people have no personal reference to physical compulsion and lack the empathy to even try to imagine what other people experience.”

One thing I’d add is maybe start on some supplements to kick-start your recovery. You’re bound to be missing key nutrients and vitamins that your brain needs as much as your body. Go for liposomal versions of these where possible, as they are much easier for your body to use than regular forms. IANAD, but I’d think B vitamins and vitamin D would be pretty urgent.

The Dancing Mania's or dancing plagues that popped up sporadically across Europe between the 14th and 17th centuries. Whole villages essentially losing their minds and compulsively dancing and flailing even to the point of death by exhaustion. Anything from ergot poisoning to general mass psychosis has been reasoned but it's too old and wasn't consistent enough to really study.

Those are some good insights and I like this quote from your friend. Just stop doing the thing retard is pretty common "advice" addicts get for all addictions but if was that easy for any addiction I doubt even a quarter of the lolcows we know, love and deride would be here for our viewing pleasure.

lol that's not true, and even if it was, "just don't eat, fatty" isn't fatal
but if was that easy for any addiction I doubt even a quarter of the lolcows we know, love and deride would be here
it really is that easy, but fat people like to blame anything that isn't themselves

Good news everyone, I finally got my medication. It's just one tablet a day, I have an annoying loud alarm on my phone to remind me, I'll try to resist the urge to immediately turn it off and not go get it right away because it's such an effort and just go in ten minutes time because I know I'll have forgotten about it by then.
