I suspect this is the main issue; he probably just doesn't give a shit about getting a new camera, and it probably does have a film of grease too, which would be just a side effect of being in the kitchen cooking; grease films from evaporating food and oil just form.

I thought that too, but in a Techtime video he shows he uses a Canon EOS 60D, which supports 1080p, which makes it an even greater mystery as to why his videos look awful.

My guess is that the camera is starting to fail and he doesnt give enough of a shit to replace it.
