It looks like Keffals.

So are the enemies women or just slightly edited wolfenstein nazi sprites?

It seemed to me that he traced almost everything for the graphics.

He also traced over some POV gun sprites and angled it and placed it on the right side, which is why the guns all look so weird. The minigun looks like a flat piece of cardboard with a minigun drawn on it, and the pistol and other guns are held by the left hand coming from his right side, with a disembodied right hand on the shotgun slide.

The few sprites that I don't think were traced was the hand with the rock as a melee weapon, and the face UI showing how bloodied the player character's face gets as he takes damage. Those look like they were drawn by a young child using KidPix or some other art program on an old Mac computer.

Why dogs of all things? How does that end up slotting in? I saw the game and was incredibly weirded out that someone would dedicate a game to killing women because who in their right mind wouldn't be, but adding in dogs that don't seem to serve a gameplay niche (they seem to be fodder as I understand?) and then making detailed sprites of those animals deaths really does make the whole thing come together to be really fucking psychotic.

They're supposed to be women, but they're lightly shidded Wolfenstein 3D sprite knockoffs. They're not traced (Believe me, I can tell this shit), but they are blatantly made to look as much like the original Wolfenstein 3D sprites as possible. A humorous side effect of this is that because of how the sprites look and the voices are pitchbent, the game comes across as troon-on-troon violence, rather than anything more subtle, because none of the sprites look remotely feminine at all.

Who, the traced portrait of the female Hitler, or the player character's face in the UI?
The JK Rowling portrait.

The dog thing is really unnerving. Especially because they're one of the most common enemy types. Dogs were never a super common enemy in Wolfenstein 3D, to the point you stopped seeing them in later levels, but in this game they're everywhere and it's kind of distressing.

Citadel AKA Anime Girl Brutal Doom still reigns supreme

What I want to know is at what point in the game did the text correct from "You picked some ammo" like you were picking blueberries to the more correct "You picked up some ammo"?

I get the problem when you don't have any friends to playtest or money to hire them, but these things are insane to double/triple-checkers like me. If you're wrong all the way through, fine, but when you're not even consistent about being right or wrong it shows that you honestly don't care.

Earlier in the thread, I did mention that dogs have a tendency to sniff out troon frauds and react accordingly, but another possibility is that it's a reference to Null.

Maybe he's taking a subtle pot-shot at this very board, though I may be looking into it too deeply.

Tho it could also be that he's a closeted zoosadist.

None of these would surprise me, and it could be that all three options play into it.

It's kind of like Ultrakill if you played it straight. The dude behind it apparently drew heavily from H.R. Giger for the game's story and design.
I beat it, it's very much a Doomer with leaning and aiming unlike Ultrakill which did some Doomer but also DMC gimmick but I only played the first UK demo and I'll play it again when it's fucking done.

It's kinda like whenever Anita Sarkeesian or others like her shilled for certain games: whenever she did, none of the games got an uptick in purchases or downloads, because her audience simply doesn't play games. Or they're too lazy or broke to support their own side in their artistic endeavors.
Its even worse than what you are suggesting. Leftist love virtue signaling because it can easily be erased when the tide turns against whoever they were supporting at the moment. Steam, on the other hand, publicly tracks what game you buy and shows how long you have played it. There is no easy way to remove a game from your library or to hide what you bought and how much you played it. This mean that when the dev gets revealed to be yet another sex pest, there will be objective proof that you supported them and therefore you are just as bad as him in the mob's eyes.

All right, so a long overdue post-script for this piece of absolute trash. it's eight months since this fuckfest was released, and it's still the worst game to grace the JPATG bottom ten, and to be able to accomplish that after Smash MAGA is grounds for a lifetime achievement award. More critically, the game has yet to be patched, despite the fact that pausing the game at all or even back-windowing it closes it and the game is riddled with shit that doesn't work correctly.

In fact, it so doesn't work correctly that I decided to fuck around with the code, and in so doing, I learned something hilarious.

Throughout the game, there are items you can find - Dog food, Wine Bottles, and so on - that I suspected at the time were healing items that the Dev just never finished. I was correct. The Dog Food is supposed to be a 10% health item and the Wine is supposed to be a 20% health item, but neither have collision programmed, and when they're enabled, there does not seem to be a maximum they can push your health to because the developer was fucking incompetent.

We have gone beyond Capstone with this fucking thing. While there are other unplayably bad FPS games I've tried with a similar level of incompetence behind them, the overpowering majority of them were made nearly 20 years ago, when there were no established conventions for how FPS games were designed, or otherwise were likely made by teams who were more obsessed with the hatred of their enemies than anything else (thinking of you, Ethnic Cleansing). The fact that this not only got made and released in this state and remains as broken as it is is a testament to Steam's lack of Quality Standards, and I'd have it no other way.

Two great things have come out of this game though. First, @Agent of Z.O.G. showed me The Citadel, which has gone on to join the esteemed ranks of the games I recommend to people, and second is the broader response to this fucking game on the wider internet, which, as I predicted, had been ridicule at best and a merciless excoriation of the developer at worst, but the best response has been the true death knell of Devs like Sandra Moen: Apathy.

No one gives a shit about Moen or their terrible games, and that's for the best. No one's Reviewed Terfenstein in an official capacity on any platform. No one gave a shit when Moen then went on to create a game where you kill doctors who are gatekeeping hormones while pretending that the Dev has a moral high ground, this time in a Binding of Isaac clone. The only ones who paid attention at all were assholes like us, and it's for this reason I'm not covering her shit. Part of me desperately wanted to pretend to review this, only to play Wowowow Korone Box and pretend that that was the game in question, but I think I used that gag up already for the rest of my life with Nora Reed's magnum opus. I may still get to it, but GodJesus BearChrist, I don't want to.

Exactly which engine was this made in, again? Because I'm pretty sure that I can find out exactly how easy of an fix this is if it's one of the free ones.

It's some kinda weird Java library.

Which is stupid. He could have used a Doom source port like GZDoom. He could have even used Unity.

Some weirdass fucking engine she made herself in Java. I wasn't able to actually enable the items themselves, just found out how much they were supposted to heal and uncapped for healing.

The decision to do this and not use literally any other commercially available engine accounts for about 70% of all major issues with this game.

To be fair, some people are desperate enough to try this to avoid some royalty payments

That's what Godot and the various Id Tech source ports are for. The latter especially, since the best way to emulate old Id Tech games is to USE the Id Tech engines?

I'm pretty sure the choice to code it in such a weird framework was a deliberate one that had nothing to do with money.

Maybe he's too stupid to pick up a new engine or coding language. Or maybe he's one of those people who think it's bad form to use a game engine or some stupid shit like that.

Or a more autistic reason than that, even.
