Now I think it's safe to say it's not just SJW types who dislike him, since a lot of people are not only citing him being racist or transphobic but also his predatory behavior towards straight guys. It's so clear that if Gage was really using him for clout/money, he would have stuck around for much longer and would have never came out as straight. I'm unsure about their other products, but their original blue gummy bear 99% is a scam. Turns out it mostly sugar with an overdose of biotin. Biotin being the vitamin that thickens nail growth, it is strongly alluded to thickening hair growth as well. Thing is most people are not biotin deficient, so most likely all of that vitamin will be pissed out. As far as I'm concerned, James is a sell out for advertising this product.

About Tati, her product is more complicated, it goes beyond hair growth and more into complexion as well. Unsure if it's a scam or not, but still a nifty price tag. I do believe she overreacted, but maybe it was the straw that broke the camel's back?

The thing with her vitamins, is that they're not only BS in that regard of you can literally find cheaper shit (as someone said in the Tati thread, biotin is easy to get hold of), but also how she referred to them and talked about them during the launch was incorrect and misleading.
She mentioned within a few weeks you would notice a difference in your hair. This, lads, is completely false. It will affect the hair that grows AFTER you take the vitamin, but not the hair that's already grown. That hair is not "alive". It will not be affected - that isn't exactly common knowledge as a lot of people who take hair vitamins expect that to be a result, considering that hair grows around 1.25-1.5 centimeters a month - and around 4.1 millimeters a week - you will not notice a significant difference in your hair after that short amount of time.

Tati's vitamins are more expensive than her competitor sugarbearhair, that she got pissed off with JC for promoting. Hers being $39.95 for a month's worth of vitamins, sugarbearhair costing $29.99 for the same amount.
Her vitamins are more expensive than the most well-known brand when it comes to boosters. Sure, you could argue that her booster is for skin and nails also, but the brand her former friend JC was promoting was sugarbearhair, so i thought that comparison was probably the best to make.

The thing is though, is that I don't see anything wrong with him doing something if he was paid to or has a relationship with the brand. Hell, especially if it's a cheaper brand that would be easier to afford, even though it's still a little pricey for a useless vitamin gummybear (just going on how old his fanbase are, promoting cheaper shit would probably be better publicity). His funeral if it's a shit product, and yes, hes selling out, no question about it. The brand has been shat on god knows how much and is essentially a meme in the beauty community, but selling out aside - throw that out of the picture for a second - he does not owe Tati anything.
He is not indebted to her for something she's done for him, and her crying about it on the internet/blasting his ass to everyone who follows her instead of talking it out with him is immature and a little bit entitled. I liken people who act like a friend owes them something to those guys who bitch about women who they do something for and they only give a thank you, because they expect something in return (i.e. the whole "But i did this/that for you. The least you could do is date me, ungrateful bitch. Thank you isn't enough" spiel that we see too often on /r/niceguys)

JC, however, is in completely in the wrong for (very publicly) slamming and shaming a guy for not going gay for him or whatever the fuck. The dude didn't know if he was into men or not, and clearly he was not as he discovered, much to James's annoyance (if you're mad about someone's sexuality not lining up with the plumbing you're working with... sweetheart, you have a major problem to work out). Gage can't do anything about that, or the gender he isn't into. It's like people who experiment in college to find they aren't into the same sex, which is totally fine and is something a lot of people experience/go through.

One more side note. Vitamins for hair and skin aren't a necessity unless you're lazy. If you have a decent diet and a healthy lifestyle, you don't need to take vitamins - the right diet helps your hair and skin anyway so you don't need to make that extra, more expensive purchase just to half-ass/take the lazy route to having healthy hair and skin. That's one tip from me to you.

Now, I'm not a huge Tati fan, but I wanted to share my thoughts on this.

Tati has shown a great amount of resolve throughout her YT career-- refusing brand collaborations, deals, etc. in an honest effort to remain unbiased. I mean... she's refused millions of dollars in the bank (and millions of subscribers). She also doesn't get involved, really, with much of the drama that quite literally every other beauty guru does. Feel free to disagree, but I do believe this is a reflection of her character in the sense that it demonstrates that she just isn't solely motivated by financial gain.

For her and her husband to take JC under her wing was an act of altruism, really. JC's subscriber count surpassed Tati by the millions despite having started YouTube so much later than her, and Tati offered him nothing but support and grounded advice. He became a sort of son to her, and I do believe there was genuine love there. And like most people do with their loved ones, Tati made excuses, ultimately privately condemning JC's behavior but not "exposing" him in the hopes that he would just grow up and realize that his behavior is wrong.

If it were me (or most of you, I'm sure), would I stick around? No. The sexuality stuff is just fucking gross. But Tati and James Westbrook invested so much time, energy, love, and money into JC... and frankly, while I disagree with them, I do understand why they clung on for so long. They really thought he would mature.

I think Tati should have called him out earlier (although, to her credit, she did repeatedly do so in private, which is important), but the breach of trust regarding the Sugar Bear Hair thing was the straw that broke the camel's back-- it was her final wakeup call to the unfortunate fact that JC values money and clout over a genuine relationship with arguably one of the kindest people in Beauty YT today. I think Tati is complicit and problematic, but I don't think she should be faulted too much for it: her judgement was clouded by love-fueled false hope.

I don't think Pewds fully understands the drama. He is unfamiliar with the Gage drama where James directed his fans to shit on him and tried to deny him from defending himself, or how sugar bear hair is not just an innocent vitamin brand but more of a scam. I don't care for Tati very much, her videos are kind of boring and I couldn't care less for her vitamins, but you can clearly see her love for James and how she's been taken for granted so many times.
