From what I gathered, he recorded his roommate and friends comitting petty vandalism in their dorm and tried to frame it as him documenting a student protest or something.
Someone who actually read the book might have a better understanding though.

It's nice to envision James as the poor man's version Kevin James. However, Kevin James was already the poor man's version of himself. So I expected him to be working a Wal-Mart or another department store; while he makes "films" on the side as a hobby.
Mike has repeatedly admitted he had a hand in creating AVGN and Board James. Which doesn't surprise me because watching him on Twitch he acts more like the Nerd character than James can ever pull off naturally.
James is just the better person to put on camera because he looks like a nerd, his nostalgia is more genuine and doesn't come across as a jerk. Mike has repeatedly talked down to his Twitch viewers and created content that would make Chris Chan say, "Hey, that's fucked up!"

In case you didn't know, Rolfe catalogued every single video he made, from is childhood home movies to every episode of the nerd as his "filmography" that's where the "500 films" meme comes from.

This autobiography is hilarious. James really needed a tard wrangler his entire life, and it's pretty funny someone as spastic as Mike Matei did such a good job at it.
Considering it was the Cinemassacre website and this was January 2012, I think most people just took that as a joke since "SJW" was a brand new term at the time.
