To Boldly Flee was probably the only one Doug regarded as art with how it was a send-off to the Nostalgia Critic, the commentary about SOPA, and the shitloads of pretentious scenes in it like the Snob scenes as well as when Doug appears as himself.I agree, the Channel Awesome movies suck, but they were filmed on a camcorder in like a week. I don't think Doug ever considered them works of art. They were fun just to see every contributor together, though yeah, To Boldly Flee is bloated as shit. James actually tried to make a legitimate movie, and it's ten times worse. There's pretty much nothing redeeming about it. It's the uncanny valley of bad.
I see he's turned into SAM THE COOKING GUY.First episode of 2023, I don’t know why the Nerd hasn’t made a joke about playing so many bad games has made his hair fall out.
Edit: damnit beat me by 3 seconds Jeff!
This makes me want to see it more, I love terrible movies. It's easily one of the worst movies ever, and I'm not kidding. It makes the CA anniversary movies look like works of Hitchcock by comparison.
It's not even so bad it's good, it's just bad. This makes me want to see it more, I love terrible movies.
No way I'm gonna pay for it though.
The really stupid thing is he lives in Philly. Pittsburgh is a little over a 4-hour drive and the city/state has tax incentives you spend 60% of your budget in PA you get a 25% tax credit and Pittsburgh thriving film industry. Tons of movies are filmed in Pittsburgh and Western PA.Null, I hope you've seen the AVGN Movie. It's horrible, but you need to see it to appreciate how James describes making it in the book. He makes a bizarre statement that it's a film about xenophobia, which literally no one but him ever picked up on. He also moved out to California to film it in Hollywood, but was somehow surprised at how expensive that was.
His cope was that the East Coast has unpredictable weather, and therefore the logical conclusion was to film in Hollywood. Ironically, it rained on one of his key filming days and ruined weeks worth of the schedule. The really stupid thing is he lives in Philly. I actually paid money to watch it online when it first came out as I was a fan of James. Years later I still want my 5 dollars back. Ashen's movie was better FFS and he released it for free. This makes me want to see it more, I love terrible movies.

I swear the more I hear about Channel Awesome alumni and their film making they are Tommy Wiseau level of ineptitude. His cope was that the East Coast has unpredictable weather, and therefore the logical conclusion was to film in Hollywood. Anyway, we all know he just wanted to feel like a big shot Hollywood director. He spent $300k to LARP.
Even though Screenwave certainly did not help by writing shit episodes, I feel that James would've ended up as a careercow eventually because he is begrudgingly continuing to do the AVGN due to burnout and being a retard who has always needed pushing behind the scenes, does things in the worst way possible like how he stores his videos, has to babysit everything and uses outdated editing programs, and has always been shit at time management and how to actually be "an adult".Edit: Screenwave, thank you for allowing James to become a careercow.I didn't think I'd see this day.
I wonder if James will pull a J&MM and just soft quit it with a promise it'll be back soon, and then never mention it again. He's still got those movie videos to milk, and he still cares about Rex Viper more than AVGN for some fucking reason.According to his LinkedIn page, Kieran Fallon has left Screenwave Media and, therefore, Cinemassacre. I wonder who James will get to write and edit AVGN now?

Suggest it in the Kiwi Farms movie night thread. This makes me want to see it more, I love terrible movies.

If you're talking about quitting AVGN then I highly doubt that he'll ever fully quit it. New AVGN's, as bad as they, are still the primary cashcow. Otherwise, his other videos get around the same numbers as current Nostalgia Critic videosI wonder if James will pull a J&MM and just soft quit it with a promise it'll be back soon, and then never mention it again. This is why it honestly wouldn't be bad for James to do Patreon - he could release things he's passionate about early there that he knows won't get traction on YouTube and probably earn more money from it, plus the change from YouTube views at a later date. Release behind the scenes and maybe some streams as exclusive content et voila! But he's probably too terminally lazy / unwilling to learn to actually do it.If you're talking about quitting AVGN then I highly doubt that he'll ever fully quit it. James already spent most of 2021 in the lolcow section, but the thread got eventually moved back to multimedia. Welcome back, JamesEdit: Screenwave, thank you for allowing James to become a careercow.I didn't think I'd see this day.
