I don't need to read some dude's voodoo recipe to understand it's emulation.Days since this thread got into a pointless slapfight: 0
They once spent like a month trying and failing to get screen capturing software to work, and then transferred video files with a firewire connection. Their incompetence with PCs is almost impressive.Oh and BTW, i wonder how much of this is just because it seems like both him and James are techno-retards that doesn't know PCs work?

Yes, we know, you explained multiple times how it's emulation. It's an emulator. We get it. Thanks! Jeeze.Yep, they're both types of emulation. I was trying to explain the difference. That was obviously a mistake - turns out you didn't actually want to know.
Up to a certain point I get it, specially for handhelds.I remember when Mike was doing the reviews while James was shooting his movie, he said something about not wanting to review Game Gear games on an emulator because he wanted things to be authentic. And I thought to myself, who the hell cares?

Only by playing in the original hardware can you experience how uncomfortable the controls & console are, the screen lighting & colors, etc.
The game gear is a large and bulky console and it uses 6 batteries. Not the best option to play an RPG like shining force.
But for the porpuses of beating a game and recording, emulation is the way to go.
There are a bunch of boomer too autistic and technologically inept to use emulation over og hardware.
The one major benefit to FPGA systems is that you can play the most exotic fuckass random cartridges with undocumented mappers, as you could on a real console, but not an emulator until the emulator gets updated to support that mapper. Even the most accurate emulators can't anticipate a fuckass circuit board made by some insane Chinese person high on research chemicals. So, it's still emulation. Got it.
man i want some research chemicals nowThe one major benefit to FPGA systems is that you can play the most exotic fuckass random cartridges with undocumented mappers, as you could on a real console, but not an emulator until the emulator gets updated to support that mapper. You and I will never, ever run into this situation. Also I'd rather just buy an Everdrive and use my original consoles I've maintained my entire life.
Personally I thought Last Ninja was just okay (the episode.) That's a huge step up for me, like that's good enough that I might actually watch it again. The Ninja one from after episode 200 was very good, Doom Memories and Contra Memories was very good as well. When he’s on he’s on.
I kinda understand him, since emulation has things like input lag, audio innacuracies and visuals designed to be blurred together on CRT display that looks like shit on LCD, that noticeably lower the quality of gameplay for people who are used to play on original hardware. What I don't understand is why he doesn't just use emulated footage after playing the game on the Game Gear?I remember when Mike was doing the reviews while James was shooting his movie, he said something about not wanting to review Game Gear games on an emulator because he wanted things to be authentic. And I thought to myself, who the hell cares?
No it's not fucking emulation anymore when you're using new hardware doing things exactly like old hardware did. It's like calling emulation the replacing of a hammer handle. It's functionally the same hammer, what emulation would be in this example is hammering nails with an axe.So, it's still fucking emulation. And why are you bringing up Phil?
Right, it's emulation. No it's not fucking emulation anymore when you're using new hardware doing things exactly like old hardware did. It's like calling emulation the replacing of a hammer handle. It's functionally the same hammer, what emulation would be in this example is hammering nails with an axe.
It is absolutely emulation.Right, it's emulation.
Right, it's an emulator. It's a giant fancy schmancy emulator made for rich nerds. I don't know why these other schmucks have to get so upset explaining how it's an emulator. I'm sure these pencil necked geeks drooled over their pocket protectors and bootleg Mario merchandise as they typed their vitriol. Jeeze. It is absolutely emulation.

$600 is a lot for a fancy emulator to play video games from the 80's with 99.99% accuracy versus just downloading an accurate emulator for free that's 96% accurate. The uber nerds can feel that 4% difference I'm sure but I just don't need it. I pay my taxes. I don't need this crap, man. It's actually emulation the way both of these images are "pictures" of Sam Bankman-Fried. It's not wrong to say they're both "pictures," but no, they're not the same.

You can get a MiSTER for $600, which I guess is "rich people computer money" in some circles?
There's actually some pretty cool Chinese bootleg GBC fighting games and RPGs so this isn't just a theoretical situation. (Check out https://hhug.me/?tags=dumps if you're interested. Yes, there's dumps of Terrifying 9.11)The one major benefit to FPGA systems is that you can play the most exotic fuckass random cartridges with undocumented mappers, as you could on a real console, but not an emulator until the emulator gets updated to support that mapper.
