I don't need to read some dude's voodoo recipe to understand it's emulation.

Also, I'm looking at the latest AVGN, why I don't know. But James' audio is super muffled at 3:26. It's REALLY noticeable. It's muffled again at 8:40 as well. It almost sounded like they used A.I. and then muffled it to mask it.

Video fucking sucks too. The Jekyll and Hyde well has run dry. James didn't even play this as a kid as he alludes to. Mike hooked him up with a copy in college.

The thing with all of this is that Mike want to be able to say he play on original hard co... hardware i mean, he ain't a speedrunner and i doubt anyone will call him a Billy Mitchell if he claim he finished Jekyll & Hyde on a emulator or not. Damn, imagine him having more of a lolcow status, just bring up emulation and he will go off. Oh and BTW, i wonder how much of this is just because it seems like both him and James are techno-retards that doesn't know PCs work?

I remember when Mike was doing the reviews while James was shooting his movie, he said something about not wanting to review Game Gear games on an emulator because he wanted things to be authentic. And I thought to myself, who the hell cares?
Up to a certain point I get it, specially for handhelds.
Only by playing in the original hardware can you experience how uncomfortable the controls & console are, the screen lighting & colors, etc.
The game gear is a large and bulky console and it uses 6 batteries. Not the best option to play an RPG like shining force.
But for the porpuses of beating a game and recording, emulation is the way to go.
There are a bunch of boomer too autistic and technologically inept to use emulation over og hardware.

I still :story: at the eventual Game Gear set up he came up with

Like seriously? All that for fucking game gear

So, it's still emulation. Got it.
The one major benefit to FPGA systems is that you can play the most exotic fuckass random cartridges with undocumented mappers, as you could on a real console, but not an emulator until the emulator gets updated to support that mapper. Even the most accurate emulators can't anticipate a fuckass circuit board made by some insane Chinese person high on research chemicals.

You and I will never, ever run into this situation. Also I'd rather just buy an Everdrive and use my original consoles I've maintained my entire life.

man i want some research chemicals now

With the behind-the-scenes videos I just want to see what games are there, I don't really care about how he has everything rigged up to a VCR because his brain won't allow him not to do that.

He put more time in his fake fucking video store walkthrough. I just want to voyeur those game spines.

I kinda understand him, since emulation has things like input lag, audio innacuracies and visuals designed to be blurred together on CRT display that looks like shit on LCD, that noticeably lower the quality of gameplay for people who are used to play on original hardware. What I don't understand is why he doesn't just use emulated footage after playing the game on the Game Gear?
So, it's still fucking emulation. And why are you bringing up Phil?
No it's not fucking emulation anymore when you're using new hardware doing things exactly like old hardware did. It's like calling emulation the replacing of a hammer handle. It's functionally the same hammer, what emulation would be in this example is hammering nails with an axe.

There are already edits made by fans that fix the horrible sound mixing.
Screenwave doesn't check QA on these at all, and when it comes to things they could easily fix, it's always the muh SEO excuse because it would mean reuploading the video.
Fuck those fat slobs.

Right, it's emulation.

It is absolutely emulation.
Right, it's an emulator. It's a giant fancy schmancy emulator made for rich nerds. I don't know why these other schmucks have to get so upset explaining how it's an emulator. I'm sure these pencil necked geeks drooled over their pocket protectors and bootleg Mario merchandise as they typed their vitriol. Jeeze.

It's actually emulation the way both of these images are "pictures" of Sam Bankman-Fried. It's not wrong to say they're both "pictures," but no, they're not the same.

You can get a MiSTER for $600, which I guess is "rich people computer money" in some circles?

$600 is a lot for a fancy emulator to play video games from the 80's with 99.99% accuracy versus just downloading an accurate emulator for free that's 96% accurate. The uber nerds can feel that 4% difference I'm sure but I just don't need it. I pay my taxes. I don't need this crap, man.

There's actually some pretty cool Chinese bootleg GBC fighting games and RPGs so this isn't just a theoretical situation. (Check out https://hhug.me/?tags=dumps if you're interested. Yes, there's dumps of Terrifying 9.11)
You either have to use specialist emulators like hhugboy or download roms with the strange copy protection disabled.
