It looks okay. At least it doesn't have the death block gimmick. It also amuses me that the programmers couldn't figure out 8 way or even 4 way directional aiming. It seems like it was a bitch to program on the NES for some reason and only a handful of games like Contra and Super C did that.

I tried giving Side Scrollers an honest go and I couldn't stand it after a while. I'm sick of wokeness and DEI shit just as much as anyone else in gaming and I believe there should be vocal pushback against it. I just find everyone involved in the show to be disingenuous.
Craig is out of touch and doesn't actually know shit about vidya outside of what he grew up with and Blabs is an annoying airhead still obsessed with Harry Potter. They claim their show is for "normal men" but it's almost always just talking about the outrage of the week instead of what games they might be enjoying. Craig will state his opinion and then ask his yes men what they think to make it look like a roundtable discussion. You almost never see any real critical back and forth on things.

I'm going to bet James did exactly zero research into this because I can't see him agreeing to be at any "anti-woke awards" or whatever just based on him not wanting trouble.

I looked at the Gaming Circlejerk thread about it and reception is mixed - some people are mad but others are basically saying he's too dumb to know what he's doing which is amusing.

James started on Screw Attack which was co-founded by Craig. Craig has a cameo on an old Xmas video along with his ex-friend and fellow co-founder Handsome Tom.

Long story but both guys founded Screw Attack but Craig had the trademark filed in his name so he just claimed it for himself and fucked over Tom.

It's hard to believe these people exist outside of internet memes in 2025 but here they are. Do they truly believe that James Rolfe is going to be leading the next Kristallnacht? This is classic guilt by association.

One has to be close to braindead to believe James is anything other than apolitical. His wife is without a doubt a leftist, his best friend Mike Matei probably is a shade of right-winger (I'd guess Libertarian) and wasn't there a rumor that Bootsy was a Democrat? That it was a source of conflict between himself and Mike?

It's hard to imagine that James done anything in his spare time other than watch movies and reflect upon them. He's probably one of the most boring people out there.
