James used to be a really good content creator.

It's an "Icarus flying too close to the sun" moment, he really went for it with the movie but he failed and he's never had quite the same creative energy he had before the movie.
At this point I just want him to retire quietly and let him raise his family

It's really sad to see how hard Cinemassacre has fallen
James knew what he was getting into when he sold to Screenwave. I wish he would just shit can it, and do some indie horror films. I imagine supporting his family is a big reason behind his sale.

The best AVGN episodes (to me) were the ones about game consoles I've never heard of (outside of a history book), or the ones around a skit like Crazy Castle, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, or Christmas. I don't like the newer ones because, well, the media of gaming matured, became more accessible (read: not frustrating) and the things that upset the Nerd fall flat to me. Makes him a caricature, as opposed to having some degree of insight and humor.

I wonder if retirement is in the cards now that he's written a book. Does he even have the reach to get a publisher? I expect he'll self publish.

According to this two years old update video (@3:10) the book is already finished: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2WFM5ebM5o

And according to this five months old update video (@1:09) he's in the process of figuring out how to release it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2AJOdoXoTM

"My autobiography, "A Movie Making Nerd" is still coming. It's done, but no new news, aside from the cover art. But, it's 100% coming out in 2021. Sooner than later. Haven't decided how to publish it yet."

I also remember Justin Silverman saying on the CinemassacreTruth's subreddit that Screenwave Media was probably going to take care of printing and selling the physical copies (it wasn't a sure thing, though), and for the digital version they were thinking of using Amazon's digital publishing service.

So James is a liberal. I guess that's not too shocking considering the views of other people in that type of community are left-leaning. But I will say I think it's clear he's not a leftie and is most likely just a liberal in the old since considering he's not screaming about politics.

What does it matter what his politics are if it has virtually nothing to do with his content?

It says a lot that playing this is the most political thing that James has done on his channel.

This is the second thread (that I know about) you've brought up politics for no reason, why do you keep doing it?

Arguably the video about not wanting to review Fem-Ghostbusters was a political message, even if he didn't intend it to be. But I'm puzzled why he would make a video about not watching it instead of just not mentioning it at all if he weren't trying to make a point about it.

I think he wanted to take a "try to please everyone" stance since he was probably constantly nagged about it. It didn't go well even if he made it as apolitical and not-culture wars-y as possible.

Well, considering he made a three part episode on Ghostbusters and specifically mentioned the possibility of the third Ghostbusters, I'm sure he felt it necessary to address it, especially considering he was going to be flooded with requests anyways.

There are no politics by not wanting to watch a shit movie, just to score brownie points with the twitter rotbrains.
