seems fake but what do you think?

As I said earlier in this thread, I think this is just delusional people who can't admit for once that James is an incompetent idiot, they still have to this day blame everything on others (Mike, his wife, the slobs, and so on) to protect James from criticisms.
I don't think anyone is trying to scapegoat others to defend James. The reality is though that if you want to pin James as being an incompetent idiot, then you would have to admit that it probably expands beyond just him being an idiot when it comes to his YouTube channel. His interpersonal relationships matter. His wife and the slobs have given us snippets of insight that show why things currently are the way they are.

Interesting if true. This users claims aren't so over the top so the idea that it is real isn't that hard to believe. I definitely believe things like Mike's friendship with him being bad and the Rex Viper stuff.

Seems mostly accurate with the reality (though some parts feel a little exaggerated for comedic purposes) James and Cinemassacre seems to be in right now, especially for what I've imagined James's poor time management in regards to the second-to-last post here.

I actually wouldn't mind a Board James reboot, because after all, it wouldn't require as much effort (let alone t i m e) as it does to play video games. Also, who would be a decent fit for a new Nerd anyway? I'm not opposed to the idea of it (the current Nerd could regenerate into a new Nerd, thus the show could turn into a more vulgar version of Doctor Who, which I would find amusing), but I feel a new Nerd wouldn't be as genuine compared to golden age James Rolfe's Nerd.

Honestly, none of it seems out of the realm of possibility. I'm genuinely baffled by a few things here, though.
1) Is James not aware that outside of gamer conventions, nobody gives a shit about Rex Viper?
2) How the fuck do James and his wife only have one car between them?
3) A Board James reboot could work, only if James is willing to light a fire under his ass and make it happen.
4) I genuinely do not know who could replace James Rolfe as the nerd, but if you go a Doctor Who route, it has some potential. The downside to this is it becomes increasingly obvious you're just milking the concept of the Nerd.

His wife possibly doesn't drive or have a license.

It seems fake and gay, but on the off chance this is all real and actual emails then none of this surprises me at all. We all know James wants to dump the nerd, but its a mix of both James not wanting to get a regular 9-5 as well as screenwave probably putting James in a contract where he is forced to do the nerd nomatter what unless he can find someone else.

If that last one is true though about James retiring and turning the nerd character into doctor who, then I pray to God that they don't get the brilliant idea to have everyone's favorite dumbass Justin to be the nerd.

This all seems fairly plausible. Nothing too absurd or ridiculous. Some notes from me though.

-Weird he says Mikes heart isn't in it any more when it's clear James hasn't given a fuck in like 5 years.
-If Viper is his passion, more power to him, I guess.
-The series hasn't felt authentic in years.
-Does he really not have like 2 hours a day to watch a movie and take notes on it? Kids are a time sink, I'd never deny that but you can't hand them off to your wife for 2 hours or so? Let the dominant breadwinner win some bread.
-If CinemassacreTruth is so annoying just ignore it? idk why internet people have just forgotten you can just not engage with things that make you upset.
-Reboot of Board James would be nice but how do you plan to sell something to a network that requires additional permissions like that? Surely you couldn't make a tv show with episodes centered around stuff like idk Fireball Island and Heroscape without company permission right?
-Should've retired the nerd years ago. His heart isn't in it anymore. I don't know how well a replacement Nerd would go over with fans but it'd be better to hand off the show to someone with a little more passion to host or potentially even play the games.

I'm leaning towards this being fake for several reasons:

  1. If his job did eventually led him down to the truther rabbit hole, then he would've posted the same thing in r/TheCinemassacreTruth subreddit. It's only the idea that Reddit requires an account to post that's stopping him from posting there really, and besides even during his job, apparently he's catching up with the truther stuff, so I see little reason why he wouldn't post there.
  2. He didn't share any of the texts or e-mails he get from Justin or any other Screenwave employee as proof (at least based on the picture). You may think he's only doing it to prevent his identity from being revealed, but I doubt there's more than one employee working from "late July to early October" at Screenwave.
  3. The idea that 5:40 is "apparently the time James has to pick April up from work as they only have one car" sounds.... not so embarrassing imo to be enough to keep it a secret to the point people are still wondering the context behind 5:40. Justin did answer a bit regarding 5:40 in the AMA and the "picking April up from work" or "only have one car" are not even mentioned:

    1640075888269.png
    1640075912127.png
  4. The idea that AVGN would cover a game that he is sponsored for is way too ridiculous to be true. If he'd cover it, it'd be either Justin and/or Kieran covering it, or James to cover it but just not as AVGN. If James were to cover any game he is sponsored for, then he would've considered the "Chronologically Confused about Dragon Quest" video as an AVGN episode already. Or AVGN decides to play Resident Evil 4 VR with Kieran and Justin.
  5. "A reboot of Board James with a new cast and higher budget" is way too ridiculous as well. Even if James were to give up AVGN for it, we're talking about someone who complains about having "no time" here, and he even said in an August video that he's happy enough that Board James ended where it was (13:45-14:00). Unless he somehow managed to get an idea of how he would reboot it within a month, I really doubt it. This just reeks of people joking about a Board James reboot with Justin and Kieran as his friends all over again, just making it seem less obvious enough to be fake.
I'm still not gonna fully call this as fake and move on, we just need to wait for the video at the end of this year in which James details his plans for 2022. If it involves all of the following, then I'm willing to believe it a bit more:
  • A Rex Viper album
  • A mention of a Board James reboot
  • Mentioning of a new branch for Cinemassacre, such as the aforementioned "comic book reviews" or "modern video game reviews

Sounds fake. There are too many nods to truther memes, and the part about his relationship with Mike being strained is outright false. They made a video this year and they behave just as they always did in it.

Tbf, the quote "his heart isn't in it" could simply be a reference to the fact that Mike wasn't 100% focused on the nerd, since he was focusing on getting his twitch stream going. As far as their relationship being strained, you can have temporary animosity or tension in a relationship and move past it. Maybe at the time there were negative feelings and they talked it out and parted on good terms. Who knows.

But that's the problem. a lot of the stuff talked about in the emails is vague enough to go any direction really.
Without proof? Chances are it's fake, but nothing said in those supposed emails is all that outlandish.
If we get some of these future announcements, I guess we'll know. lol.

On the 5:40 thing being him leaving to pick his wife up:

He said he had to go watch the kids. James makes a ton of money from this and has made good money doing it for a long time. The idea of him having to rush off and pick his wife up from work with their only car sounds like something from someone who just doesn't get how much money is involved in these big channels and who doesn't know what's up with Cinemassacre (which was something I noticed a lot on the subreddit when I used to look in there--a lot of people thought he had another job). Both he and his wife count Cinemassacre as their job and have for a long time.

10. What do I do? (professionally/creatively?) What is my style? Why not do the AVGN title cards? Does James support or overshadow this?

I have an undergraduate degree in Illustration and a post bacc certification to teach art Kindergarten – 12th grade. I’ve done some freelance illustration and I taught for 3 years after getting my degree but decided last year to leave my job to work full time for James and Cinemassacre. I handle all the books, scheduling, and paperwork for the business and well as provide production assistance. Basically I wear a lot of hats and help where I’m needed. This keeps me quite busy. My artistic style is illustrative and usually figurative with a surrealist twist. I have not created original artwork in awhile since I’ve been so busy helping with the movie, but it is my goal to get back to creating. At the moment I do not have any artwork available online. I do not do the title cards for the AVGN episodes, they are done by Mike Matei. He has more of an animation style and is more familiar with the gaming subject matter so that’s why he does them. I love Mike’s work and I think he does an amazing job. I did paint the cover for “The Deader the Better” DVD jacket. (Coming Soon) I did it with acrylic on canvas and James has the original hanging in his office. He is very supportive of my artwork and encourages me to get back to it.

I doubt that with the brand deals and everything else that's no doubt added tons of revenue since then that they've gotten to the point where she went out and got back into teaching. (People don't get how lucrative those brand deals are either: https://medium.com/internet-creators-guild/brand-deal-17e60288ea65)

As far as the time stuff, Justin said multiple times in that AMA that he did that James gives a set amount of time to work and then that's it. You can look at the episode of AVGN talking about how he makes them and see examples of some of his days working on the show as he shows his little scraps of paper with the daily times written on them. James just doesn't work much and never has.

It also mentions James not wanting to rebuild the room because it wouldn't feel authentic, but that doesn't make sense considering the Nerd room is now a set that was rebuilt in James's garage according to Justin.

Some of it's stuff that's been posted publicly like James being really into the Rex Viper stuff (I think Justin said it was his big passion or whatever in his AMA). The rest mostly sounds like random speculation.

I agree with @José Mourinho on most of his breakdown but I feel like everyone is overlooking the biggest red flag that it's fake: how the hell would a new, temp employee have access to all of these emails? If we assume they are using O365/G Suite, the social media manager would only have access to a specific set of accounts and not be privy to 1-on-1 communication between the team. While some things I could see him/the main account being CC'd on (Board James scheduling and details, Halloween episode ideas, etc) things like saying Mike's heart is not in it would most likely not be sent out in communications that new staff could view.

"... did some snooping around the companies emails" yeah, okay bruv. Everyone there would most likely have their own emails (james@screenwavemedia.com, etc) so the small chance of a rogue email account which multiple, primary members of the company communicated through leads me to believe this is just fanfiction. Especially with the push of 2FA everywhere these days, just accessing an account that isn't one that is assigned to you is incredibly small.

I wont rule it out completely as the claims made aren't outlandish and god only knows how bad some of these smaller companies maintain their infrastructure and security, but anon saying he can access these accounts is a massive red flag and without any proof I'm siding with fake.

I figured it was fake in how he mentioned a fairly exact timeframe between his start and end dates, yet couldn't provide the slightest bit of proof that he worked there. Screenwave is tiny. It'd be trivial for any of them to figure out exactly who he was.

Hell, he only ever mentioned talking to Justin, but not Big Ryan, and I thought Big Ryan was the head of it all. Then again, their website doesn't even have any list of staff. Is Screenwave at its core really just Ryan, Justin, and Kieran?

if their IT is incompetent, I could see them accidentally, or unknowingly give a temp access.

like at my current job, we really have no IT, and the VP controls o365...but they work with me occasionally to set stuff up, and I'm not the IT department or guy...and they've given me admin access at times to finish set up for our desktop stations...and they know nothing of 2FA.

While I'm not ruling it out, there's a difference between admin access and global admin access. Think, do you have the time to dig through months of your bosses emails while those admin credentials are still given to you? Would you even know how to view them? I mean this sincerely, as my point is that the average joe either wouldn't have the knowledge or the time to crawl through these emails. Plus, the average worker isn't trawling through their bosses emails just from a morality perspective. But if that is the case, that's some serious security problems on their part.

Final Part of the 200th episode is out!! Will it end on a high or dissatisfying note? Tune in to find out!
Haven't watched yet but saw they added this disclaimer at the bottom of the description:
1640131259575.png
Little disclaimer: This episode was split into 3 parts because it's runtime is over an hour long in total. This made it easier to edit as we go. Also, Episode 200 was not made to sell a video game. The BTTF game you see (made in Unity by Sam) is just a plot device and not a "real" releasable game. Regardless, Sam's Unity files will be put online for free at the end of the 200 saga, next week. However, there is an upcoming 8-Bit NES AVGN game coming late next year, but it is completely unrelated to these episodes. Sorry if anyone was a little confused!
