It’s not Unreleased, it’s him making it with a green screen of the old nerd room. Still, a fun little nostalgia thing. I wish he’d put the ads at the end of the videos like he used to when they first started doing ads.

Yea, I noticed the dialogue didn't really feel like an old episode, and obviously the part where he's addresses his future self is shot now. And then it moves onto a modern review.

But good work on the visuals. It really looked like an old 2006 era episode to me. (as long as you don't look too closely at James himself)

I think James legitimately gave Screenwave the boot, to some degree at least. Reduce the role that they play in production to support only. It might be why this one took so long to come out and why it's so much better than all of the ones in recent history. I wouldn't be surprised if Mike helped out too.

According to the description Mike did provide help with the episode. James also claims that it was written and directed only by him. I kinda believe it, as this episode has been much better then the last few.

Haven't watched it yet so we'll have to see.

Kinda meh, but has some good moments here and there. Not the greatest and I didn't care for the callback lines, feel forced and kinda inauthentic but hey it's probably the best Nerd review in awhile!

mike can be autistic shit and all, but I've noticed when he's involved in AVGN, it becomes good.

compare this one episode to the rest of Screenwave episodes. it took more time and effort. not because he referenced his older style, but filming and jokes are way better. convo with Ernie was too long though.

I dig this quality over quantity nerd episodes, even if they take way longer than usual.

The Ernie segment made me laugh out loud, pretty hard. It felt like one of the old episodes again. I hope he takes longer with the episodes. If it takes a couple months or so to get these kinds of episodes, I’ll be happy. The talking part with Ernie was a bit long but the fight was hilarious. I don’t care what anyone says, that part was fucking funny.

Pretty sure this is all new footage, just with some footage made to look older (his hairline in the old video is way too far back to be that old). Also seems to have the tattoo on his right arm in the "old" footage too.

Also it seems Mike Matei helped him with this episode. If Mike is back on board and he and James do the episodes again, it'd be a step in the right direction. I'd rather get one decent episode every 1.5 months with random shit in between than two horrible episodes a month.

It appears we may not have heard of the end of Rex Viper.

I’ll admit I kinda loled at James expression there, coupled with that dudes smug 70s getup, guy does have a talent for body language and expressions in comedy, it’s why the Nerd gained popularity in the first place, James might not be Daniel-Day- Lewis but he definitely puts a ton of manic and funny energy into his performances.

I personally think people are a little harsh to the newer episodes, they’re pretty subpar I’ll admit but the guy has been doing this career for over 15 years and has 200 episodes to Teh series. It’s absolutely going to show signs of wear and decreasing quality by now. The guy has already given us hundreds of hours of brillaint entertainment for free and yet we bitch about how making a bad AVGN episode makes him the devil somehow, I’d like to see anyone here make thousands of videos consistently over Teh years and tell em how easy it is to write gold. Guy is still incredibly talented and deserves mad respect for practically creating the genre of the ´Comedic game reviewer’ type of online series.
