Am i the only one who's sick of James using a C64 for all PC-related stuff?, just get a mid-90s PC already for fucks sake, there's plenty of DOS trash that would make for good AVGN episodes.

Something something "muh nostalgia" joke is here somewhere. I agree though, that joke has been run pretty much into the ground at this point.Am i the only one who's sick of James using a C64 for all PC-related stuff?, just get a mid-90s PC already for fucks sake, there's plenty of DOS trash that would make for good AVGN episodes.
You know, James himself is a dedicated Apple guy, I'm surprised he doesn't use an Apple II, nor has ever covered the plethora of games on there.Am i the only one who's sick of James using a C64 for all PC-related stuff?, just get a mid-90s PC already for fucks sake, there's plenty of DOS trash that would make for good AVGN episodes.
I for one would love to see James dress up as JC, look himself in the mirror and say, "maybe you should try getting a job."I dunno, he could upgrade to one of those colorful iMacs from the late 90s. Those are both visually appealing and old enough to be nostalgic for his audience. Then he could cover Deus Ex and make the most out-of-touch episode ever.
I had a thought: you know what would have been a good oldschool FPS that would have fit the Halloween season and would be up his alley? Blood. It would have been perfect because it's still a cult game and it's made by horror fans for horror fans. Him reacting to that game for the first time would have been interesting. You know, James himself is a dedicated Apple guy, I'm surprised he doesn't use an Apple II, nor has ever covered the plethora of games on there.

plus hes not really the angry video game nerd anymore hes the slightly annoyed tired guyI think there is still a place for Angry reviews.
It's a bit like how in hollywood, they used to always make westerns, the. Westerns were put and it was Vietnam movies, then cold War, then bodybuilding action stars, now its marvel heroes.
Youtube used to be all angry reviews, now its all 90 minute long form video essays.
Nothing wrong with a bit of variety and angry reviews can still be funny, but James is just so very tired, he's been at this for 20 years and he can't stop because he needs to pay the bills.
It's a sad sight to behold.
One of the problems is that every notable bad game has been covered to death. Rerez for instance does have the ITS JUST BAD series that does fill that angry review void. But they have their own brand of humor that goes over the show and not the familiar James toilet humor. That you may be looking for. Any new game that is bad, usually gets covered with a more serious tone of how could this have happened. It is not looked at as a laughter moment, is SRS bUZNEESS. See people's reaction to CP2077. If it was made 30 years ago it would have been an episode on AVGN.I think there is still a place for Angry reviews.

If you mean been covered by the nerd then i have to disagree, sure, he already did a broad episode on C64 games but Matei has recently gotten a Amiga 500 Mini wich brings hope for more coverage of that ill forgotten console (was a big thing in Europe, in US... not so much). Since the only really good episode AVGN did this year was a Matei driven episode (Last Ninja on the NES). So opefully Matei will send some good tips and material to him soon enough. And there are loads of weird PC Engine games he hasn't covered, just to mention some. One of the problems is that every notable bad game has been covered to death.
Theres a guy on YouTube called Gmanlives, he's just some Australian guy who shreds crappy games half the time but also reviews good games as well. One of the problems is that every notable bad game has been covered to death. Can we have at least ONE reviewer who didn't mention HDoom or Bru~ ah wait, I recall he did both.... tsk, blyat...Tbh I found the Doom video pretty enjoyable, but he should have focused on weird ports and mods more instead of just mentioning them.
To his misfortune this niche have been already taken by Civvie and Ross. And Simpson of the latter will not be pleased with some balsing pre-civvie "legend" to steal his bread (how?).Am i the only one who's sick of James using a C64 for all PC-related stuff?, just get a mid-90s PC already for fucks sake, there's plenty of DOS trash that would make for good AVGN episodes.
i randomly stumbled upon rerez in a youtube suggested video a few months ago they are pretty great sparse uploads but when they do its funnyOne of the problems is that every notable bad game has been covered to death. They have gone down the wikipedia list of games considered the worse ever made. One of the aspects that made James video's so entertaining. Is that the NES games he showed, were the ones his family rented him from Blockbuster. As it was rented to many other kids. Some even myself. The more obscure you go the less funny and relatable the episode can be. Take the Hong Kong 97 video. It was a obscure joke. But it was a more of a reaction video of him trying not to laugh at the Fuckin ugly reds. The video he did on it, was not as good. But what it did was get people interested in the history of the game. That produced better video's about the game and its shitposting creator. If you mean been covered by the nerd then i have to disagree, sure, he already did a broad episode on C64 games but Matei has recently gotten a Amiga 500 Mini wich brings hope for more coverage of that ill forgotten console (was a big thing in Europe, in US... not so much). I understand what you are saying, but that's the crossroad he is at now, either he gives up on the nerd or he go the obscure route, most people watching him knows about most games he talked about but i liked his C64 video since it showed some games i never heard of (but i jumped at him talking about Bozo's night out since i played it as a kid and it happens i pull out my mini to play it from time to time, thinking im the last person in the world even remembering it) but yeah, it might just be me being a eurofag and all but him talking about some of the weird Amiga games would be a treat, a shame he can't do a "Amiga porn" video :pBeing an obscure bad game does not really make it funny on its own.
There is some obscure games i remember as well. Like Poy Poy on the Playstation. Young me played the fuck out of it. Look up on youtube how bad the game is. As much as i would like to see some one angry review it. It wont gain much interest as a video.I understand what you are saying, but that's the crossroad he is at now, either he gives up on the nerd or he go the obscure route, most people watching him knows about most games he talked about but i liked his C64 video since it showed some games i never heard of (but i jumped at him talking about Bozo's night out since i played it as a kid and it happens i pull out my mini to play it from time to time, thinking im the last person in the world even remembering it) but yeah, it might just be me being a eurofag and all but him talking about some of the weird Amiga games would be a treat, a shame he can't do a "Amiga porn" video :p
And considering Matei's maturity level i can't get it they haven't covered games like Toilet Kids on the Turbo.
But hey, that's just me.
It looks fun, a shame i didn't know about it 20 years ago when me and my buddies used to play 4 player PS1 games like crazy (That multi-tap was the best investment i made for the PS1 other than chipping it)There is some obscure games i remember as well.
