The Pants-pissing Rage this guy did is what has really made me want to look a bit deeper into the excerpts from this book posted. What can I say, that hasn't been said here before, but, "Holy Shit/Piss".
I ran into AVGN soon after he debuted, and I looked forward to his videos. i never looked much into his background, just, I enjoyed older video games from my youth, he picked some apart, so, for me, it was an enjoyable mini-series.
There was a break in new material during the time of that movie he was making. That's about when I lost some interest. This guy had momentum. And, like what happens at times, if you derail that momentum, you derail some that have been following you, or may follow you. I never saw the movie, as at the time, what I read in blog posts, it just seemed to be not the best thought idea. Why not make a small, lower-budget film, or even half-film, closer to home, and then try to build upon that? Why make the jump from youtube shorts to all of a sudden some direct-to-video shit filmed in CA?
Reading the excerpts, this shit is more than Autism. I still respect the earlier work, but more than ever, I realize this was more the work of a group, and Mike. I saw a while back AVGN James Rolfe talking about how long it takes to make a video. This is just a youtube short, it's the content, not so much how well you can hide a mic dangling from the ceiling. It seems, to me, this guy has lost his touch, and had his head up his ass for a while. i never realized, until now, James has his head so far up his ass. Keeping a diary, journal. I understand that. Keeping something similar, way back 20+ years ago and calling it your, "Auto-biography". Holy Shit. I have never heard of that. Nor have I heard of people pissing their pants in grade school, often, in defiance of something. Perhaps mouthing off to a teacher, breaking something, and so on, but pissing your pants more than an, "Accident"?
I learnt of some of the changes with AVGN after that film, but, i did not pay much attention to the screenwave, etc drama at the time, as i had other shit to do. Reading excerpts from this book, it does make me realize now, James cares not that much for these games. He is a prop. Screenwave feeds him scripts. This is a guy who pissed his pants in defiance of things. Threw friends under the bus to chase cash. Wrote a book not about how he became one of the first youtube short, "film" sensations but more focuses on other stuff that does not matter as much.
Realizing, now, that James is a pant-shitting/pissing Autist, who had other people writing his scripts, really does make me view him differently. He had good friends, and is now, for the most part, a prop. A prop that hates what he does with AVGN content, though that is what made him. It makes me wonder if he should just go the GG Allin route, and start pissing and shitting himself on stage at his metal concerts. I do feel, this will enter LOLCOW category, very soon, and he did it to himself, with this book. His Auto-biography has truly changed how I view him now, and also all the shit I heard about his past business relatiosn the past 10 years or so after the film he made.

It did surface to my mind, a moment, when I realized when this guy may be retarded. I think it was one of his, "You know what is Bullshit" videos, where he shat on Blu-ray. It made me realize, this guy either has a shit set-up at home for viewing films, or, he is so invested in old media he cannot stand a better format out there, or, he is just retarded.
Bruno may back me up on this, since judging by his interests, I have probably bumped into him on a few Horror and AV boards over the years without knowing it. I ONCE had a guy, bitching about a Blu-ray release of a title, and I posted on a thread screencaps of the Blu-ray along side with the DVD, same time-stamps. He then accused me of cherry-picking scenes. I told him, name some scenes, time-stamped, and you can compare for yourself, I'll cap both the DVD and Blu. You name it, I will do it. This guy would not name any timestamps, he just accused me of cherry-picking, nobody can tell the differences between 480 and 1080, etc. When I saw that AVGN video, which I did not finish watching,a bout how he thought Blu-ray was Bullshit, i do recall before this auto-biography, that being a telling moment for me.
So, whew, when i saw that, "Blu-ray is Bullshit" video from this AVGN, it really did make me question a lot from him.
