I either never knew about that, or I heard about it so long ago that I forgot.

James has been married to April for a long time, way before 2016 Ghostbusters. He had the one daughter at that point already.
He was in at least two car accidents both of which weren't his fault. One of them severely injured his grandma and reduced her life expectancy by several years -even though by James' admission his grandma was a big time smoker and the accident happened closer to her mid 60's/early 70's-

That’s really sad to hear about his Grandma. James must have a guardian Angel.

I don't know what Spoony ever brought to the table and why he has fans to this day.
His game reviews were -kinda- good. His more infamous videos were the FF8 videos where he ripped the game apart (and riffed on it) and the riff tracks on The Ripper PC and Phantasmagoria 2 PC. Once he started talking about Wrestling he brought in a whole new crew of fans. "Wrestle Wrestle" was his side pet project, he even had a dedicated site to it. It wasn't till he decided to bring in guest reviewers was when things went south on that though (i.e. Sean Fauz a.k.a HopeWithinChaos... absolutely NOBODY liked the dude because he didn't have the same charisma as Spoony)

Didn't appreciate him 'til he was gone.

I'm not too deep into the Channel Autism lore as i always found every single one in that clique to be insufferable assholes and didn't watch it in its heyday but another difference is that James didn't piss away all of his YT earnings and never had resort to e-begging. You could argue the Kickstarter was a form of e-begging but James did deliver a product in the end, no matter how boring and unfunny it turned out to be. I don't know what Spoony ever brought to the table and why he has fans to this day.
That's true, but James did cost himself a fuckton of money by NOT having a Patreon (tens of thousands a month lost) or doing more with merchandising and referral links in his videos, at least before Screenwave. This was pretty common stuff by the early 10s so I reckon James lost over a million dollars by not doing this.
Come to think of it, does James always wear a T-shirt with some oldschool pop culture thing on it when he's just being himself? Star Wars, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, I swear I've seen all of his shirts at Walmart
James seems to genuinely love 60s-80s rock and metal so Pink Floyd and AC/DC wouldn't be too surprising. He seems very into it since in his original behind the scenes video he shows a shelf with every single Iron Maiden studio album (can't remember if it had some of their live albums but this was early 10s) and claims when editing an AVGN episode he listened to the whole discography back to back twice. I thought it was pretty cool he enjoyed the more underrated ones like X Factor and Dance of Death.

James is just terrible at business and finances. He claims in his new book that he didn't get rich off of AVGN, so he either fucked up and failed to commercialize his AVGN franchise, or he got financially fucked over by ScrewAttack/Matei/Screenwave. Or both. He probably lost a fuckton of money by working on the AVGN movie for 2+ years too. And then there's losing $100k of crowdfunding money to taxes, who knows how much more of these mistakes happened over the years because James doesn't understand how to manage money

It appears that the audiobook (read by James!) has been released. If nobody from the Reddit posts it I might be able to get access if there's interest. Hopefully it's uncut.

Edit: found this 7zip link on the deep web, looks to be split into mp3 chapters. I didn't listen so if there's any problems assume James fucked it up.

The Shining theory is a literal retard tier take.
"The sign in the ballroom photo saying July 4th Ball instead of Fourth of July Ball is evidence that The Shining takes place in a world without holidays" is moronic.

Normally I'd assume it was Matpat style click bait and that he doesn't actually believe it, but James's belief that his childhood movies count towards his grand total of movies he directed makes me think he's deluded enough to be serious.

He said that games aren't really his thing, but movies clearly aren't either.

I just want to elaborate on how retarded James's point is;

He says that The Shining is "either not about Christmas, or is the most Christmasy movie ever" because it's actually about the solstice with Jack representing darkness, and Wendy representing the sun. He makes vague points about the sun often representing Christ in Christianity, and the Romans chose the 25th for Christmas because they thought (incorrectly) that it was the solstice. It's nonsense that would be laughed at if it was in the previously mentioned Room 237 doc.

Keep in mind that this is a man who sincerely believes in the lost city of Atlantis and has sheepishly backed off his belief of the Loch Ness Monster and Bigfoot. He also didn't know what the Zapruder Film was.

So yeah.

I downloaded it... I bike for an hour daily and listen to audiobooks while I do so, but I am unsure if I can steel myself for the cringe. I'll have to think on it. Maybe this will be the first one I listen to faster than 1x speed to minimize the damage.
