I just saw the latest video. It isn't as bad as some people made it out to be. He isn't going full DSP/AmazingAtheist where he's just bashing his fans for being impossible to please while demanding they continue to fund him because they can't afford to live without their support. But I definitely see we're in the beginning phases of when a content creator really starts to turn on his fans.

You can tell his heart isn't in it anymore. He was expecting more things to come out of it but they haven't. He might want to put more effort into the show, but fatherhood seems to be really kicking his ass so he kind of has to offload the work onto Screenwave. Despite being a little bit older and more well off, he doesn't seem to be handling the transition from having unlimited freedom and little responsibilities to now actually having to raise another human being. After years of shielding himself from the drama surrounding his cohorts, it is now starting to seep in. Plus the fans are starting to become more and more critical, something he isn't used to due to years upon years of positive reception from them.

The next few years are going to be really interesting to watch from James. I think he can still avoid going full cow and burning down everything he built. He has managed to avoid it for this long, he can still do so. But the crossroads are starting to appear. He is going to need to really sit down and start figuring things out before he begins lashing out the way every other failed YouTuber has done.

Tomorrow we are going to see the first episode of the podcast but even before that, we can already tell it's going to be terrible. James posted a teaser on Twitter saying they recorded various episodes...what? I've never heard about a podcast like that before, they are going to talk about shit that happened weeks if not months ago? I thought the appeal of podcasts was the commentary on recent events, but the slobs appear to disagree with me.

I'll not watch it anyway, but I wonder why not just bring back Rental Reviews? They don't have a large scope, after all, they will inevitably discuss pop culture trash and games (that James can't give a fuck about).

Goddamn. I knew they were losing views, but they lose so many that they have had to resort to cutting the video? thats one way to cut costs.

I'm not suprised considering that was how James and Mike Mondays were done with them meeting once a month to film a bunch of episodes. It was also theorized that James playing Mario Maker 2 was done in 1 session but cut up into 4 different videos.

Anybody else ever see these?

This guy was making these anti-AVGN videos back around the time the AVGN movie was in production. I thought they were kinda funny. He takes particular umbridge with James Rolfe for e-begging for money to make the movie.

They're downvoted to hell because being anti-AVGN was not a popular stance at all back then.

Found some more.

The podcasts sound like a disaster waiting to happen, but at least (I hope) they won't have Tony's laughter interrupting everyone and everything.

As underwhelming as Rental Reviews could be, a few episodes were passable, depending on the topic. Justin was, to me, okay with Spice World. Kieran was enjoying himself, more so than nearly any other episode, with G.I. Joe. These are, I think, two examples of tolerably decent Slob usage.

But Tony? Yikes. Vibe killer, he is.

Only defendable reason for the podcast to be recorded in bulk is due to the nature of conversations. Take SleepyCabin for example, it was just random topics and hijinks of those at the office. The conversation about the Strip joint still makes me chuckle. However I highly doubt James has or had a fairly interesting lifestyle beyond the odd convention interaction and if anyone followed Silvermania or any of Justin's other projects, you'll know how much of a fucking liar he is. He'll fabricate entire details to make himself sound more compelling.

But the second you bring up current events, that shit ages fast. Look at say Castle Superbeast or Super Mega. Weeks, let alone months, date content.

Only daddy rock band talking. Can't wait... to ignore it completely.

You might be confusing podcasts with stream vs youtube vids vs clip channels.

It makes alot of sense if you were gonna book guests write a script, sand bag.

Its also how shit was done when people had to down load the casts to their Ipods. so it makes sense given the age of these people.

I m also remembering something I saw on tv 2 decades ago, on some buisness channel the talking head had a dude on who said it works like this

first you have innovators

Then come the imitators

And finally you get Idiots

The podcast is so late to the game and it sounds like trying to make up shit so they can plug a sponsor

The rental reviews was a lo rent red letter media

It coulda worked if the fuckers had chemistry and put more effort into polishing off the "review" with scripting and editing.

Why cant james hire a inductrial production company to come "consult" him on better lighting and set up options

Since his time is so valuable it would be worth it to have mondern solutions to modern problems

that makes me wonder, what did all those celebrities thought when they went to film an AVGN episode?

I mean even Lloyd Kaufmann should have taken James taken into a corner and said to him, "listen you numbnuts, even when I'm king of low budget horror schlock, I have put more effort in the setup and lighting my sets"

Something along the lines of "Jesus christ what the fuck is this low budget show? Has my career gotten this bad?" Also james could learn alot from troma movies. They have budgets that are dirt cheap, but they make it work. Someone show Lloyd Kaufmann the latest episode. Wanna see how long it takes for him to fall asleep.

I think James uses the kids as an excuse because it really is a good one when it comes to getting rid of most people. Like what are you gonna go? Tell James to ignore his kids? You wouldn't want to be the monster who tells James that his internet videos are more important then his kids?

Its a excuse that is really good to use even though I do believe there is truth to it and he isn't totally full of shit. I haven't heard much about the wife, so no idea if she is a nagging bitch. From what I do know tho she has the reputation of being a bitch.
I've heard that too and it's something he should be more upfront about instead of it being just a meme. But how much is he really working? If James was really working 50+ hours a week on Cinemassacre stuff, that would obviously be a problem, and one he could solve by trimming it down and redirecting it toward the Nerd stuff which is his main moneymaker. Well, we know he's not doing that much work and he could outsource more to the Screenwave slobs (that's why they're there, right?) and not use such a primitive, time-consuming set-up.

It sounds like he needs to have a real talk with his wife that all that internet bullshit is a job. And if he can't have that talk or it doesn't work out, he should be upfront with his fans about making less content/content without "epic skits" (which I wouldn't mind, even the best skits over a decade ago were never the best parts of the video) or simply retire and do something else instead of slaughter his legacy and get rid of opportunities for a few thousand dollars here and there from convention appearances or periodic comeback videos.

We really do not know how much james works on his videos. I have heard anywhere from below 40 to 50 hours depending on who you ask. From what I can gather though, I have heard that he pretty much puts in the minimum effort, and lets screenwave do the rest. At this point he just does his lines, does some video and fucks off, letting screenwave do the rest of it for him. James is burned the fuck out, and is in full lazy mode. As for his kids, he really needs to not make it a joke anymore, same with time. If that seriously is the reason then I agree. The way he says it sounds like a half assed excuse. Speaking of james recording lines, I just got a video of james doing his lines below.

"Shouldn't [James] be in the bigger spot? It just looks weird, never seen it like that before, looks like he's being interviewed by those 2 guys."

Not surprising, given how James has willingly allowed those fat untalented hacks to leech off his channel like that.

I wouldn't say this is "the end of the line" for James, but he's surely not helping in deflating that sentiment with stuff like this.
