Took a quick glimpse at the podcast that is airing right now. Didn't listen or look at it, just the stats on the watchpage:
Podcast.png

4,000 people watching is actually not bad for a YouTube livestream, albeit, probably not that good for a channel of over 3 million subs.

There's also an obvious ratio going on in there with almost 1,000 dislikes, but its slightly drowned out by the 3,000 likes, so maybe it could be worse?

Mike is actually in the stream's chat too, he said he recorded something with James and it will be published sometime soon.

Anyway, anyone watching? Is it bad or is it mediocre?

So made a really shitty recap of the whole podcast.

1 min in, and james is talking about time, without saying time. Visiting people, catching up. annnnd 3 min in he finally says the meme word. Also, for someone who allegedly has no time at all, he has been reading alot of books. around 12 min in they start talking about games, fallout is brought up, and you can tell james has no fucking clue whats going on. Justin and Kirean pretty much talk to eachother for a good 3 min, and james has to change the convo because he cant keep up. Changes it to talking about old fashioned and how he learned about it from its a mad mad mad world.

20 min in and now we get to rex viper. James does the most fucking terrible plug of the website https://www.rockinpins.com/ after bringing up some artist, and pretty much saying "oh wow im wearing their shirt, check them out". fucking late night talk show interviews were more subtle. Justin claims they are finally gonna do original songs.

James talks about his music, making it sound like some pump up music, and sound like its the best thing that has happened to music. (keep telling yourself that james). He talks about how his power of love cover was so hard to make, and was some crazy almost impossible song... wut. So, not sure how long ago this was announced. But looks like this podcast could have been made maybe a month ago, as james mentions that the lastest rex viper video should be out, and says that it just came out.

After this they talk about concerts they have gone to, fans meeting them at concerts.

Q&A happens, james talks about how he made his logo in mario paint. James is asked if Board James is gonna happen again, and he avoids the question by explaining how he made board james. At the very end he says no, but also says he has an idea of a prequel... and of course as usual the main villain comes up. Time comes up. In reality I think a lack of mike and bootsy is a better explanation. Pokemon is brought up, and james shows how little he knows about games past 1998. Final question. The big one. Booty Mike, and kyle.

James just says they "moved on" and went on to do their own stuff. He bullshits his way though this saying that there is nothing that ever happened, and they just moved on. Fuck you James. Seriously. Although, he did go with bootsy to the last ACDC show, so looks like they are still talking. Mike will probably show up, and is the only one in constant contact with James. Says him and mike will possibly do something. he brings up his neighbor who he is playing games with on a new video. And at that point I honestly was too bored of the podcast to even pay attention.

I counted james saying time 5 times. Podcast was just rental review 2.0. TL;DR? podcast is boring. Average. Not good, not bad. Just average. Much like everything else james does. What a shit load of fuck.

I gave a quick glance at the comment section and most of it was trashing the podcast for spending half an hour on Rex Viper
:story:
Dude. James is making himself sound like he is fucking kurt cobain or jimi hendrix for covering 80s songs with some video game OST stuff mixed in. I died of laughter when he made the power of love cover sound like it was as complex to make as something like strawberry fields forever.

Well, he considers himself a film director, despite the fact that the only real movie that he directed was in name only. Finn did all the hard job for him.

James is an egotistical moron.

I agree. So how long until james has his original OC song Smells Like Teen Yoshi

Man, those are some assholish people, do they want him to suffer from all of that mean criticism?

Seriously though, how the fuck did he spend half an hour on Rex Viper? I didn't watch the shit but it's just shit parody songs right? How would that warrant a half hour discussion?

They spent a half hour on it because james would not shut up about the creative process. He seriously made it sound like he struck gold and was the next big thing. Then ended it by saying that its all just "for fun". When it came to shit that actually needed answers like what happened to bootsy and kyle, james brushed it off so fucking quick and pretty much said "nothing happened we are all best friends still next question".

They all need tard wranglers, is my take away from this.

There isn't much else to say, except they all struggle without a topic they're passionate about. They ramble stupidly, sometimes without connection, otherwise.
James needs to take a step back and humble himself is the main takeaway I have from the recent videos they've put out.

I mean James isn't a musician and seems passable at best as a guitarist, so of course it would be hard for him. That's why Kyle Justin was the guy who was rocking out with the guitar, not the AVGN.

Because it's the only thing James is passionate about these days. Which hey, more power to him, but if Rex Viper didn't have James they'd be just another garage band that does video game-related covers and parodies. Since they have James, they're "that one band AVGN plays in". As I've said, AVGN in a band is Michael Jordan playing baseball.

Oh I get that. I realize that for him that is really hard, but the way he made it sound was like he was playing some crazy shit from dragonforce

I'd argue those are symptoms of being retarded. This podcast is, so far, looking to be another example of un-wrangled retardation. Still, your takeaway is a solid remedy that I agree with.

Unfortunately though, no time for reflection because Raycons make it hard to hear criticism.

Watched the podcast because meh nothing else better to do:

Intro Animation: I'll admit, the trailer itself is actually good especially with the rock music and the announcer voice. Needs sound effects to make it extra cheesy. 8/10

Episode Starts
: "Wow. Wow, I am here." James talked about being in "catch-up mode" and how he and the crew didn't meet in a while, how this is going to be the spiritual successor to Rental Reviews as well as him missing it, him and the crew also talked about the permanent end of James & Mike Monday [sic] briefly, and them joking about the end of the podcast. Not a good start honestly. 5/10

Watcha Doin'
: James and the crew talk about stuff they read/watched/played/drank etc. for the past year and a half. James talked about how he played games with his kids (Breath of the Wild and Super Mario 3D Land for Switch), as well as making Old Fashioned drinks and going to bars. Other than that, nothing interesting for me since I'm not into the shit they were into especially capeshit even though I do give them credit for at least talking about stuff they were doing for a while and seemed to be having fun with it though topics change often here and now and then. 6/10

Starting a Band (Main Topic)
: This is where it goes downhill. James talked about him playing the guitar, drums, bass, etc. James did say that Justin was the one that gave the idea about doing this band, mentioned briefly that Kyle was trying to teach him about singing. Also there's discussion regarding the music they did, the band, etc. For some reason Kieran's Twitch is promoted here. Boring. 3/10

Green Screen Effects
: Seriously, do we even need to hear them talking about the green screen effects for the Hearts on Fire music video and Vegas Stakes AVGN episode? Oh yeah and James talked about the word "time" several times in this part. Even more boring. 2/10

Bands and Concerts
: I don't know, them talking about bands and concerts they watched. Something about Satan and something about a giant machine they could drive under. I tuned out at this part. 2/10

Fan Q&A
: James talked about the Cinemassacre logo which he drew in Mario Paint and how the name "Cinemassacre" was formed, talked about Board James (rules out possibility of doing any more Board James unless he had ideas for prequel, which he didn't know he had TIME for it and might have to take a year for it), and talked about what happened to Kyle, Bootsy and Mike. The final part is pretty sad, he talked about reaching out to Kyle to play a part in the Vegas Stakes episode for the Spiderman part but couldn't reach out to him because he's busy (I generally take the claim that "Kyle left Cinemassacre because he didn't get paid for the stuff he did" not so seriously but unfortunately it does seem that Kyle is ghosting James), as for Bootsy he didn't actually talk about what happened to him at all, and as for Mike it's just streaming which we already knew. Justin later summarized it by saying "Mike's streaming, Bootsy's doing his own music stuff I think, and Kyle just has a family and like, business I think, and he does like construction stuff". There may be a possibility of having Mike as a guest on the podcast. Also some mentions of Kevin Finn and James' neighbor, and how the Screenwave crew first got involved in the AVGN episodes. 5/10

Overall Score (not an average): 4/10

Overall, meh. Not atrocious but not good. Just average.

I feel slightly sad for James that he couldn't even get a response from Kyle. I do belive money was the main issue since it seems that also was a problem with bootsy. After all the behind the scenes crap, and having to deal with James and Mike, I honestly can't blame him for ghosting James if things are as bad as the rumors say they are.

I honestly wonder if Kyle gets paid for using the theme song in new AVGN's?
