You (and all the people who responded to you with guesses) are off with the speculating because what YOU (and everyone else) thinks "hacking" is is NOT what Figtree thinks it is, and it's the reason why he ALSO speaks very vaguely and makes broad, sweeping statements probably because he knows what he actually does is pretty gay (or he does know what "hacking" means and is then essentially lying on purpose).

He's talked more in detail what he actually did maybe once or twice (I saw it in shorts so I don't know where else I'll see if I can find the specific one but good luck obviously). His "hacking" was actually "penetration testing", and by "penetration testing" one of his examples was he literally looked for unlocked doors. Or he followed people in. He didn't give a SINGLE example of what anyone who responded to you was guessing about default passwords and shit, or anything that actually involved computer skillz. He was "physically hacking" powerplants by seeing if he could find an employee not paying attention. That's it lol

This is the SAME shit he won that stupid defcon or whatever badge for that he references and touts constantly, he claims his team did some "epic social engineering/hacked the mainframe" but if you look up the one time he actually explained what he did, he knew someone who was working at the event and got them to tell him something. That's literally it. That's what he was touting as his 1337 top secret blackhat mastermind winning move was.

Backing this up. Between him constantly talking about Social Engineering, mentioning offhandedly that he was doing penetration testing, and his job involving him being flown out 30-50 times a year, he was almost certainly on site being a nuisance in the name of security. So like McSneaks said: Going around trying to find unlocked doors, stealing employee ID Cards, walking behind people into secure areas, telling people that he's the new guy, and insisting that he's meant to be there when cornered.

I found an interview where he talks about a few things, with his government job getting a very small mention. Around 31mins, he says he quit that one because 4 people left to start a security firm, which would have increased how often he had to work. The language on Security Firm leads me to believe its physical security instead of cyber security, which would lead more creedence to his 1337 hax0r man job just being trying every secure door in the building until he found one that gave.

I went through to try and find some of his videos discussing his time at the DOE. While looking I found this clip, which is him getting sponsored. He's made a point in the past about how much he hates sponsorships, so this is rare.
The Sponsorship is "Starforged Gaming", which is a PC build company owned (at the time) by Asmongold. Asmon has parted ways with the company, but there is still financial interest for Asmon to guntguard Jason. So apart from Asmon farming hate viewers and potentially being told to defend Jason by people at Night Media, there is another prior connection that could give him vested interest to do so.

A small YouTuber dropped a video about Ashes of Creation, and is apart of the guild that Mald "blacklisted." TL;DW: To no ones surprise as multiple clips surface of his ego, Pirate is shit at that game, too. Even with over ten thousand members in Pirate's guild, The Federation just stomps them. It's a fun little clip compilation of Mald and his guild getting his shit kicked in. Just figured I'd post it here, since it criticizes Mald, who knows how long it'll stick around.

I've just finished watching them. To those who didn't, here's the run down:

This guy's guild, the federation, claimed a mob faster than mald did so mald, in a total over reaction, declared total war on them. He wants them totally crippled and unable to do any activity in the game. Mald's guild is 1500 large and outnumbers the feds 5 to 1. This video claims that the feds still managed to stomp mald's guild back so hard that mald's guild are the ones who are unable to do anything, to the point where a lot of mald's guild members quit the guild to avoid the guild name tag (I assume since mald made the feds to be kill on sight, the feds made them kill on sight back). His guild comprises of mald simps so not surprising and very believable that alot of them would suck and relies on zerging. Apparently this got so bad that mald abandoned his guild members and ran to play wow hardcore where he got into the trouble he got. Which kinda made sense to me since so far he has always dropped everything to play aoc (alpha test, server not always up), so seeing him play wow again was "huh" worthy in the back of my head.

The vid mostly showcased clips of mald saying unhinged things against the feds guild, displaying total god complex and mald getting wrecked several times, including one where mald got into a 1v1 who immediately healed himself to full everytime mald tries an attack and in dsp fashion claims '1v1 vs cleric is impossible' or 'nothing i could do' and flew away in a flying mount. Also one where he got killed and claims that a mage shot him for an insane 3k damage (screen shows 1k) and directs his guild to focus on the mage.

I hope this wow drama puts a target on mald's guild in aoc and made many other guilds in aoc hostile to his guild. Would be funny since mald has been very smug about his guild's presence in the server. From what I understand, mald got the aoc devs to increase the guild member size limit (remember when mald got the eve devs to listen to him? pattern here) Some players were concerned about this impacting the server gameplay balance since the whole game is built on guilds pvping one another vying for control of land with zocs that can expand and in an effort to have it both ways, seems like the devs are going to implement a perks system where the guild has to choose between having extra perks or an increased guild limit.

This is true and probably a natural progression in this kind of mmo. Guilds form pacts and become bigger than they already are. But if a guild is already so big from the start and the server launches with already having 1/3 of the population in one guild (as an example), it's gonna fucking suck for the other players starting fresh and not knowing anyone. "wdym i can't chop this tree cause a mafia already has control of this zone?! it's been an hour!" kinda deal.

I stayed there for a year, and then, on my 7 person team, 4 people quit the same day.
They went to go make their own security firm. So, they wanted to increase my hours from 10 weeks of work a year, flying around the country, to 30, with the same pay.
And i was like "dude, i'm not, like, that's more than half the year I wouldn't be at home, like, what's the point of even, I'd just live out of hotels at that point." Right?
So I quit, I quit and I was like, I'm gonna take two weeks, maybe I'll go back to Amazon, 'cause they were offering me a position for a, a lead security position, to do security for their games, and I, was still open, they did that when I was leaving, it was still open there.
And I was like "I'm gonna figure out what I wanna do", and, two days later, JacksScepticEye played our game Heartbound, and the community just blew up.
And I was like "Welp, guess i'm doing this then", and I never stopped. And I've just been doing it ever since.

Probably the biggest anti-zerg measurement in AoC is lack of fast travel. The heavier they limit speed of traveling, the easier it will be for smaller guild to bully zergs if they overextend.

also at 33:15 is when the interviewer brings up his game, he claims this time that covid stopped development for 2 YEARS and that he has been working on the game for 5 YEARS and it is a "incredibly complex game", his covid claims have once again changed and he has lied about development time, to lessen the impacts of his failure as a competent game developer.
