Confession time: I actually used to watch some of his content/lets plays. It always seemed kind of plastic, but functioned well as background noise. His bumbling attempt at screwing over Stop Killing Games was the trigger for me digging deeper and seeing what an asshat he really was, but nonetheless.

Even before then, in several of the games he played(supposedly blind), I had kind of gotten the impression that he had looked up guides beforehand. Some of the things he did seemed too photogenic to be real, like those creative writing blurbs people on reddit/4chan/whatever try to pass off as real events. "Accidently" unlocking the special scene that you practically need a guide for, naturally managing to figure out a bosses gimmick on the first try, even when he hit a fail state it was usually in a way that was almost pristinely photogenic as to enhance the lets play experience.

People did this with Ballatro too. It's written in Lua, and it has a huge file to define all the cards. It works, the game is stable, it runs on a potato, and it actually came out. Of course you then had social programmers who did not make ballatro come out to talk about code quality.

FWIW, Lua doesn't have switch statements, if/elseif is the idiomatic way to do switches. This isn't the way I'd code it (I'd use a map instead), but this isn't bad or anti-idiomatic in Lua at all.

The very first time I did any sort of "programing" was modding. The objective was to get a little character to load in the middle of the screen, a different character every time that screen popped up.

The first time I got it to work "successfully" it was by running a rand(1-100) and then doing a chain of checking if the randomly generated number was 1? no, move on to 2? no, move on to 3? until it reached the "right" number and it would load the file random-number.jpg.

Every time I added a new character I had to increase the maximum in the rand command and a new line to the chain. I did this until the number of lines in the code made scrolling too hard to use on a trackpad before I just asked someone if there was an easier (less stupid) way to make the same thing happen.

Every time I see an indie-dev use if-then statements it reminds me of that.

Edit: I also found 3 other streams and a "longplay" which I assume is a compilation of all the gameplay streams put together to show the full run in it's entirety. Will upload everything if anyone knows where I can put 51GB of video.

For what it's worth, almost all the streamers I follow that have been playing OnlyFangs haven't had a numbers boost at all, some had lower viewer counts while playing. It's been remarkably widespread for something of such middling success. I don't trust any of the claims about organic/inorganic drama, but reacting is cheap content and I'd naturally expect a ton of it from everyone already on the train.

From my perspective, it's the opposite. However, my prespective is mainly true for streamers that their main content was WoW already. I don't know what's the margin of error for these sites but I've checked the analytics of a few 2k and less andys from Onlyfangs that I don't follow and all of them had a boost on viewership, follows and subs within the last 3 months, but, if you check their numbers for this week/month, quite a few are dipping which is kind of expected as people are already bored of it.
