That said, the issue isn't that he uses an array for text in the game, but that he seems to use an array for _everything_. At my last job was a particularly ardent C programmer who also loved to use giant arrays for every set of variables, at least he used enums (most of the time; humans are fallible and forget things), but if you're writing the name and reserving memory, then I really don't know why not just use a fucking struct. We already had compile-time RTTI going on, so runtime indexing isn't an excuse, it just made it impossible to untangle when he left and I had to bloody maintain it.

During a "blind" playthrough of Outer Wilds in 2023, he gets stuck on a puzzle for ~9 minutes before giving up and "sneakily" staring at his phone for two minutes for the solution, then pretends to have come up with the answer. FWIW, Lua doesn't have switch statements, if/elseif is the idiomatic way to do switches. This isn't the way I'd code it (I'd use a map instead), but this isn't bad or anti-idiomatic in Lua at all.

It's not, that puzzle requires multiple players because each player only gets part of the puzzle solution. He's flat out lying here, and it's easy to prove. Either that, or he fucking reverse engineered the game in a few hours off-stream to datamine the solution, which is improbable, and also cheating.

This also partly explains why there's so much beginner content and no real "intermediate content" because virtually everyone producing streams or tutorials is an expert beginner who can't talk about anything more complicated than endlessly retreading tetris clones. There's also a revolving door of beginners who constantly join and leave, kind of like people buying assets off the unity store who will never produce a game.

There is shitload of intermediate content though. Just not in format of influencers talking bout shit, but tech talks on conferences.
And beginner stuff will be (almost) always more popular than intermediate stuff, by the virtue of that every intermediate had to be beginner at some point, and not every beginner will progress further beyond first interest.
