The thing i think that irritates me the most about all of this is that most Youtubers I've seen cover the situation refuse to call him a retard. Matter of fact all of them keep saying it was everyone's fault and they all coulda played better. which fine but one person didn't do anything at all to try fix the situation. I remember when Linus did that 3 week Linux challenge or whatever and he just made heaps of absolutely braindead mistakes that coulda been easily avoided if he simply either read what was on the screen, did some research or used basic common sense and all the big Linux Youtubers at the time kept excusing his nonsense and downplaying the situation. Why do they do this? Lookup is O(1) in both cases. Adding or removing items in the array is O(n) and O(1) with the dictionary. It's not less efficient, in this use case it's the same efficiency but the dictionary is less messy and easier to work with.

I was assuming that the array wouldn't need to be changed after initialization, so no insertions or removal at runtime. Because maybe I'm wrong but it seems to me like an array of hard coded states. So accessing/incrementing an item in the array is the only "relevant" metric, and afaik arrays are more performant there. I mean, it's absolutely tiny and a completely irrelevant performance difference in this use case (an indie 2d generic platformer (?)), but I could see some old school embedded dev with old habits not using a hashmap because of said performance difference.

In this case though, it's just complete incompetence. Dictionaries wouldn't be ideal either (imo, I agree with the Redditors here and id say that a JSON config file would be better and give you more freedom, though it would ultimately still get serialized into a dict-like structure anyways), but so much better than what he uses right now.


Again I'm not even jerking off to performance or something, I'm saying that for prototyping and going fast, something you can change and use easily is just better. Like, he can keep the global state and all, that's fine for game dev.

The Eve Online stuff is particularly funny, because his behavior during that Dire Maul dungeon is the exact same type of thing an "experienced"(sarcasm) eve player would say/do. I can't tell you how many times me and a few buddies have been fighting for our lives against a much bigger group while some retard we just recruited is sitting safely on the other side of the gate making excuses for himself in comms as to why he couldn't do anything more and that we were being too mean to him or some shit. Unfortunately these streamers are too big of pussies to say to him "if you aren't going to help then shut the fuck up, you retard."

I've always said eve online is a game for stupid people that want to seem smart. There are good eve players, but that gap between just a good eve player, and someone who can only follow instructions in a fleet(retards) is massive. To be a good player you have to be able to see the situation, understand what is going on, and have enough initiative and balls to act. Retards have seen plenty of pvp, and played the game for decades sometimes, but they are basically automatons when it comes to actually playing the game. All they know how to do is follow the fleet "anchor"(eve term for: they auto follow someone in fleet because they can't be trusted to fly their own ships), and shoot the target the fleet commander tells them to do. Their ingame time in eve consist of krabing(pve content, the lowest of the low for serious eve players), posting on reddit, and joining daily slapfight fleet to go shoot the same people they always shoot in organized daily slapfights with no stakes. They do this for so many years and they think they are gods at the game, and sometimes they will ween themselves off the tit of their big null sec coporation and lie themselves in to high skill pvp groups. They then get themselves into small gang situations, flying ships they have no business flying, where no one is telling them what to do and they just cant handle it, so they run.

In these situations where these retards get their ego checked it usually follows this series of steps:
1) Retarded player leaves friends in a shit situation that he could help
2) Retarded player makes excuses for himself while his friends are dying
3) Friends tell him if he isn't going to help then he needs shut the fuck up
4) Retarded player continues to argue while friends die
5) Friends realize they have been flying with a retard and start reminding him of every single mistake he has ever made(eve online players are autistic so they remember all this shit), they go through his killboard and make fun of all his shitfits, and all his deaths to random retards, they spread his name and his retardedness to every single serious high skill corporation/alliance in the game
6) Retarded players ego is now shattered into a million pieces so he swears a blood curse to ruin them in game
7) Retarded player leaves group, joins his friends enemies and spends the next week making reddit and forum posts about how his former friends are really bad people and they said nigger, faggot, and retard multiple times in voice comms, and really hated minorities or some shit
8 ) At this point retarded player either goes back to null sec alliance to continue to participate in one button slapfights or they quit the game.

Maldavius has carried on that "retard who pretends to be really smart" mentality to everything he has ever done. He also carried forward the 8 steps of eve online retard butthurt. Maldavius is a legendary retard in eve online. Whenever I tell someone "that piratesoftware guy is maldavius" they tend to be completely flabergasted that someone that is widly considered to be this genius programmer and hacker is the legendary Pochven retard himself. I don't know how its taken people so long to see him for who he really is, but I am glad its finally coming out.
