Someone on LSF pointed out that Mald's voice changer glitched out during his Animal Well stream (10:05:54). "Blind Playthrough" was removed from the title of the video.

And it's still fucked when he brings his face forward again before the voice changing bass boost goes back to his normal settings without having to have his face practically touching the microphone. His voice notably changes back to "normal" while is head is not moving in the last second of the clip. There's also no reason his voice would get that high just because he moved his head back, as he does that regularly and still has his voice changing EQ active without a drastic shift like that.

Using hardware or software to boost or cut frequencies for your microphone is changing your voice. Just because he's not using some stupid app or button built into a mixer to make himself sound like a robot or whatever doesn't mean that he isn't changing his voice, it's just not drastic.

It’s really just a fuck ton of bass boost + maybe voice training—but the bass boost alone will give the perception of a deeper voice.

It’s been debated endlessly but yeah it’s def just voice trained (like a troon lool) and bass boosted to high heavens.

We’ve heard him speak at that reward show recently and he sounded pretty similar and I doubt they had a secret voice changer ready for him at the podium. But yeah old videos have the much higher voice not because of any magical second puberty, but because he wasn’t voice training like a tranny yet.

Yeah it is still changing his voice by definition but when I think of voice changes i think of pitch shifting etc.

As for the clip—yeah I see where you’re coming from. Personally I’m still not 100% convinced he has a pitch shifter, I’m more on the side of voice training. That’s some pretty strong evidence though, hopefully we can get more clips like this in the future.

The end stood out the most to me, how his voice is high pitched then goes down in pitch without moving his head away like you mentioned.

Even the close microphone and voice training thing doesn't make sense for that clip due to Mald's own excuse. If it were just microphone proximity Mald wouldn't have needed to claim "2nd puberty", and voice training doesn't suddenly fail to work just because someone else is holding the mic. What I will say about that clip is that not only does he not have control over the audio in it, it's also in an open convention room floor with shit acoustics and really that was all Mald ever would have needed to say about it.

The clip of his speech during the streamer awards where he's dressed as his fursona, would be another example of an uncontrolled audio environment but the problem with that is clearly everyone else at that event using the same mic doesn't sound like shit. That event was definitely after his "2nd puberty" and of course because the mic was so low(he is apparently on the taller side) he couldn't use proximity to the mic to make his voice sound lower. The other problem though is that it isn't just that the bass is missing, the upper range of his voice is still higher than his normal streams. So that isn't just missing boosted bass either.

Then on top of all of that, there's this post where a kiwi ran audio from a podcast he was on through a spectrogram app(likely this one https://www.izotope.com/en/products/rx/features/spectrogram ) that makes the fuckery he's doing with his audio, visually obvious.

Jason claims in this clip that the government gave him a job offer after he won his 3 black badges from DEF CON.

As an audio guy, his voice never sounded right to me—like there was a hollow nature to it. Reminiscent of excessive EQ/filtering. We all know he modifies his voice, but I was curious so I loaded the full ~5 minute clip into RX and looked at the spectrum. I didn't expect to be this right:

Sure, but it's also part of running a con which is entirely what Elizabeth Holmes was doing, screwing people out of millions of dollars. Mald effectively does the same thing, it just makes him sound better to morons that he grifts for a couple bucks at a time by the thousand. At least in Elizabeth's case, she didn't want to sound like a kid for her grift so there's more logic to be found there. With Mald, it's just him wanting to sound like the old wise man on the mountain to a bunch of 15-25 year olds.

I think not. Nothing he's done seem to me like a passion project you can hurt him with, everything is more a deliberate effort to grift off of people using various tricks, and I'm convinced Heartbound was planned from the start to be a low effort low cost Undertale knockoff to profit from the hype and the desire of people for more games like that.

Jason has a huge ass array storing the games state in it. At some point he justifies this with an ARG, that requires his code to be easily readable / reverse-engineerable. I don't know how that works and if a better maintained code base really would have defeated whatever stunt he tried to pull off, but I don't believe him anyway and think he just needed an excuse for his bad code.
