Jedi: Fallen Order - Metroid: Darksider Souls - Legend of Sekiro.

"Rushing games" is pretty much the other version of the meme of "why games today are so bad? Must be DLC" (while showing how modern devs look compared to previous ones). A rushed game made sense when tiny dev team got a year to make a new game on their own barely working engine, not when devs had four years (at least) to work on a wildly popular engine with one of the largest budget IPs in the world.

Devs just suck and their managers know gamers are dumb enough to buy barely functioning games for full price.
Yeah, I'm really getting sick of people blaming games being "rushed" when they all seem to take 3-5+ years to make now.

No, the devs just suck fucking ass.

Did they jack the prices of games up?
Yes. The new base price is like 70 dollars for games now that the generation seems to finally be in full swing.

Some game breaking bug got reported for the Xbox version so I decided to pause my playthrough until a patch. Apparently it can cause even new games to be unuseable. Disappointing, I am enjoying the gameplay loop but the performance is so shit.

The first game was glitchy as fuck but I played it a few weeks after release and had a good time. Hopefully this can get ironed out.

So 2 decades on and Jedi Outcast is still the undisputed king of single-player Jedi experience. Who the fuck thought that taking Dark Souls' simplistic, visually uninspired combat and applying it to a JEDI GAME was a good idea?
What? You don't like playing as a ginger beating up alien creatures with his RGB baseball bat that clips through the environment?

oh no theyre being rushed. people forget how difficult it actually is to make games, even with big teams and lots of money being thrown around, and those execs expect the game to launch in a certain time window for maximum profits and/or game growth cause thats a thing now.
granted a game taking its sweet time doesnt necessarily mean it'll turn out good nor that a game being rushed out means it will 100% be bad

It didn't become a thing *now*. That's *always* been a thing.

These game devs really do fucking suck donkey dick. The business of video games cannot hold up to 5 year + development cycles across the board unless there is a major change to how the business works, and the idea that every game can just magically be the next GTA V isn't realistic for devs or publishers.

It's just shitty time management and bloated development teams. Gaming turned from engineers writing barely understood optimizations to get games working on terrible technology (and creating some of the best games ever made), into "artists" over-designing games to be as joyless as humanly possible to fit what is basically a McDonald's order.

Other games can come out fine, this is just cope. Either devs do their jobs (or properly scale their games) or they have to deal with people making fun of their retardedness and the lack of sales.

Just pirated Survivor and it actually runs surprisingly well on my 1070. Maybe it's just pretty CPU heavy since I do have a relatively beefy CPU. Made sure to rush through to the open world planet just in case since I heard the first level runs a lot better due to being linear. Also seems they've recently removed Denuvo with a patch.
Guess I'll play through it now. The original wasn't amazing but it was fun enough despite being set in the nauseating Disney canon.
I'm surprised there isn't a general Star Wars games thread so dredged this up. Although it's pretty telling how this game has already been completely forgotten about.

Not flagrantly retarded + Didney Waz + Why the fuck do I need 2 launchers to run this goddamned game * (RAM/Denuvo) = an okay at best game, that maybe leaves a hint of "Eh, that wasn't awful" in the brain a decade later.
Compare that to the runny wet deathbed shit that Outlaws has made, even if it comes from a different company. That's the sort of stink that gets the EPA called to your house.

It just... wasn't a very good game. The world was okay and the gameplay was fine, but the story was mediocre at best and the characters were pants on head retarded at several points. I finished it feeling like it was a solid downgrade from the original.

I feel like this game is what people accused the first one of being story/characterwise. Like people joked about Debra Wilson making Darth Vader kneel but actually he was just messing with her and easily dispatched her. Then in the sequel they give her exactly that kind of retarded scene where she's a threat to him.
Anyway I haven't gotten around to it yet, got distracted by Baldur's Gate 1 which is probably a better use of my time.

To be fair, in the first game Vader stumbled briefly while utterly owning everyone; Cere delayed him for a short time and that was about the extent of it. Anyone who thought she'd somehow gotten one over on Vader was deluding themselves. In the second she was actually a threat, but it didn't particularly bother me aside from the fact that there was zero mystery what the outcome of that was going to be. Where I was irked was that the entire story was pathetically predictable; the instant any new character showed up, I knew precisely what was going to happen. Bunch of chipper freedom fighters? They're fucked. Actual competent and reliable sort? Gonna betray us. Old frozen Jedi? Instant dark side.
