I think they can edit it so much that it extends the normal character limit also. Im not 100 percent sure on this but ive heard it from somewhere before. We May have to do an experiment on that front

Nah man, Duine is right. Lily doesn't know what a maternal instinct is or feels like. Hell most cis women don't even have a strong maternal instinct until they have children. If anything she's describing a parental instinct, and that's only if I'm being extremely generous to be honest. I would describe it way more as Lily's need to control the narrative and speak down to those listening as if they were children, not because she has a maternal instinct, but because she's a controlling cunt. If a mom spoke down to their child like Lily speaks down to her audience it wouldn't be farfetched to consider that mother at the very least somewhat emotionally/verbally abusive.

A true strong maternal instinct is risking life and limb for a child. It's when you hear the story of a mother who lifts a car to save her baby or lets herself get caught in a dangerous situation so her child can make it to safety. Most cis women have this instinct to some extent where they would willingly put themselves in harms way if it meant protecting a child/children. It's why women can so easily read if their children are unhappy or under distress before the child can even speak. It's why so many elementary school teachers and daycare workers are women. That's not to say men can't/wouldn't protect or read children but for the most part women just do it much easier and without a second thought. Its natural to them, instinct if you will.

Lily just simply doesn't have that instinct. Given Lily's history in writing children (eugh) and how she would handle actually having a child, she clearly has no fucking clue what a maternal instinct is. Any woman who saw half the shit Bonnie does would have a fucking stroke. To Lily its all just a laugh and a gag and "oh that bonnie and her antics", but any mother who actually had a child who could do half the things bonnie can would probably be a paranoid wreck over the fact that her child can so easily put itself into danger. Obviously madhouse is far from realistic but Lily's "motherly" relationship to Bonnie has never felt right or genuine. If Bonnie was real she'd be a god damn nightmare and Lily would probably break so easily, especially since she cant even handle slight pressure online.

TLDR: What Lily describes as a maternal instinct/anxiety is really just her being a manipulative bitch. It doesn't actually have any bearing over how she would treat legitimate children left in her care, which is what a maternal instinct actually is. Being a mom friend is not in anyway the same as having a strong maternal instinct.
