This. Joe is like Connor in that he likes the idea of being a filmmaker but does not want to put the effort into actually becoming one.
Well yeah but it might not be as easy to get off your ass and follow through joe's autism might mean that he would get this shit done ok with guidance. He had some direction on the first movie and managed to finish when his brother was there giving him advice. We've explained what he needs to do next but he doesn't believe it.
@Joe_Cracker Do you have a main plotline written? Do you have all the scenes written?
I promise you that you have the tech. If you want 1080 video the iphone 4s will do it google comparisons of the video to dslr cameras it's not bad. I saw a comparison where the iphone 5 looked better or just the same but different in all but a few shots. 4s is probably like $50 and the 5 is like 150 I just googled it. You don't even need to get one that works right as long as it takes video so you can probably get cheaper if you look hard.

Just make it a goal to actually push record.

This is arguably my favorite Joe video ever. The sheer, unbridled ego mixed with Sonichu-levels of :stupid:. It's amazing. Well worth watching both parts with a nice cold beer.

I still have no idea what "They do that on Washington Street" means. There is a Washington Street in York, SC, but I have no idea what happens there. Am I supposed to?

I love his example given for rom hacks. "No Eminem, uh, givin' out recipes for uh... uh... blueberry muffins! None o' that!" Oh, but I love Kaizo Eminem's Bakery Adventure!

Don't you think though, Joe, that if there were a program where you could just tell it what you want your game to be like and it spits out an entire game in your vision, NES or not, it would seriously change the entire videogame industry? Considering it is an industry, it's safe to assume others have had that same idea but canned it once they thought about it and realized that it's whimsical and probably impossible even given today's tech.

Looks like Joe's been finished with his double-dip edition for a month now. Surely he's going to GET CRACKIN' on a new project now, right? Right?

Yes there is a plan B, I continue on my own if she says no.

Also, the first stage of crowdfunding efforts for Unknown Creature 2 #kickstart963 starts friday, and a Video Diary entry going up today will explain the details. https://youtube.com/watch?v=aoT3aD2Qilk
Joe, didn't NES Rom Maker teach you not to make big claims about other people's involvement, before you had a deal? Or TLOC for that matter?

What's your plan 'B' for when, (you should know this line by heart by now) No one wants to give you any money?

NES Rom Maker had to be put on the back burner and TLOC is already out there, I'm done with it all for just a prequel that I'm writing.
Joe NES rom maker is a horrible idea. It sounds cool but once you pick apart what would happen in something like that it's an AWFUL idea.
Let me explain with bullet points and then I refuse to dig in further than that if you wanna argue about it:

  • It's harder to program an NES than it is a modern computer, the NES not being very powerful being the biggest reason but there are lots more reasons
  • An NES emulator is a virtual machine
  • Java and flash programs also run in a virtual machine that's EASIER to program than an actual computer. It keeps track of a bunch of things for you. It also makes most of the capability of the actual computer available to the program in a controlled manner
So this means that an NES rom maker would be harder to use to write games. The games that were written for NES are all written in assembly because the machine was so underpowered that was wasting any processing to make the programmer's job easier had a direct dollar value cost that would be passed to each and every cartridge, so go ahead and make the dev think hard and then you'll save money. This is the opposite of how programs are written today, they take every opportunity to make the job of the programmer as easy as possible because a whole 1ghz dual core computer with wifi and a ton of video acceleration costs less than a single nintendo cartridge when adjusted for inflation so they let the programmer waste as many resources as they want so they don't have to pay him for a million hours because he is very expensive compared to the computers he writes code for.

So basically what I'm saying is that there is not much you can do to make writing nintendo games any easier now than in 1988

Joe you must make it your goal to hit record on your camera and stop fucking around. If you have an actual scene written and people and places picked out. Get them all in one place and hit fucking record.

So... Joe's wanting us to back his project that:

  1. Doesn't have a script
  2. Doesn't even have a finalized writing team to WRITE the script
  3. Is relying on other people to make their own fan trailers, which he will incoporate into a video release he will sell for profit, but...
  4. He won't go through the trouble of vetting the rights on anything he's putting on that disc, just trusting others to do the hard work for him
  5. Appears to be offered in some kind of multi-level-marketing model
Joe, to be quite honest, this is pathetic. You are absolutely wasting your time dealing with all the fringe elements of moviemaking while ignoring your core responsibilities. At this stage, forget marketing and crowdfunding and blu rays. All you should be doing at this moment is WRITING YOUR SCRIPT and SCOUTING LOCATIONS TO SHOOT. Absolutely everything outside those two tasks is a distraction at this point. It's really telling that you're spending so much effort on making crowdfunding promos, but are farming out the actual writing of your script to an assistant. It shows exactly where your head is.

I know you aren't going to listen, but it's very obvious this movie is following the exact same path as all your other projects.

1. I do have a script, 1/2 of the first act is finished but a smaller fraction of the second act is written and being thought out. Maybe because I'm doing crowdfunding efforts now is because the script and the movie is so big it could end up being the first ever found footage movie to be 3 & 1/2 hours long. It may be the first found footage screen epic with an Intermission in the center just like they would back in the old days or the second half may become Unknown Creature 3. I'm still trying to decide. I do have locations in mind, the first is my house where the first one was shot, plus nearby woods, plus some wooded areas in both North and South Carolina to make it look vast. I'm even thinking about finding a Cherokee elder who would be willing to appear on camera because the history of the Cherokee plays a part in this.
