John Wick 4 and 5 - "Keanu's Gun-fu Show" meets "Fast and Furious"

Teaser trailer is out

There's a guy with shades and John shooting each other near point blank and they somehow miss each other? Not even swinging their swords on the other hand to deflect bullets in a "fuck it, lets accept the series escalation at this point", they just shoot at each other walking towards each other and missing because...?

Don't forget that there's bulletproof suits in their universe. As to why they're not shooting for the face- why worry about it?

It's totally not what people watch these movies for and would be terrible for everyone save me, but I'd love to see more exploration of the whole alternative economy they have going with the gold coins. In my head-cannon, the fiat money that we all use, that the ordinary world knows, is just for the outside people. The people in the know, those part of the world of real power, never went off the gold standard and Bretton Woods and Nixon was just a means to fob off the masses and hide away the real movers and shakers and power. The assassins bump off politicians and businessmen and warlords who stick their nose where it's not wanted or who break free. And the gold is the currency the true assassins (descended from the original hashisim) have always been paid in. Hence that Arab dude in part three. Anything really meaningful - contracts, information, new identities, safety - it's all paid for with the gold and the fiat currencies are just created and handed around as needed.

Wait... we're still talking about a movie, right?

I'll definitely watch it just out of aesthetics alone, it already looks 10/10, but I wish the plot were more grounded like in the first movie.

I just interpreted it as a sign to show that you're a friend of that community. If the gold is an alternative to currency, it's retarded that cleaning up a body is the same value as getting inside the Continental's bar.

Anyone know of a movie series where two were filmed back-to-back and they both came out good? I'm trying to think of one.

Well... in neither case are you paying for the basic actual service. In the case of the body, there's obviously the expertise and knowing someone who owns a big plot of private land and an excavator they can use to dispose of bodies. It's valuable but it's not particularly difficult and the person doing this is likely a low-level affiliate. More of an administrator than anything. With the bar, you're clearly not paying for somewhere to sit and have drinks, you're paying for admission to somewhere you can safely discuss business, make contacts, advertise your services. Hell that last one alone is almost priceless in clandestine work. Pretty sure you can head-cannon the two things as both being worth one coin. If anything, admission to that bar should probably cost more than cleaning up some bodies.

Zero hype for this film.

Everyone is a super assassin now, even the dogs and the hotel jannies. There are no characters in this series anymore, just a bunch of video game fighters who are all immortal.
It's become a parody of itself but at least the stunts are usually worth price of admission.

Infinity War + EndGame
final harry potter movies? i dont remember tbh
back to the future 2 & 3
the human centipede
You chose capeshit, harry potter, the human fucking centipede and the 3rd back to the future as examples of good back to back filmed movies. This is the most reddit tier response I have ever seen on this site, which is impressive considering the MCU thread exists.

You had the original lord of the rings movies and you settled for mediocre garbage. Disgusting.

Too much salt spoils the food, man.

The third film was a slog, I was not paying attention anymore to it after the 6th gigantic setpiece, which occurs in the first hour of an already long film. I remember in the trailer there was a bike chase scene, I legit can't remember when this happened in the movie.

Maybe I'm old? Who knows, but the first film had character development. We slowly got to know this super-assassin, and we understood why the bad guys of the film were so terrified by him scene by scene. It was something unique and charming.

This doesn't exist anymore, because he is not really that badass. Almost everyone who appears in these series now is just as much of a badass or even better. So what is the point? Wick is not unique anymore, he's just another one. And I don't want to see them in a bunch of senseless fights that all look identical to each other for two hours straight.

Besides that, I think they changed the screenwriter for these two films, right? The story is probably going to get even worse now. I think the executives wanted...even more action.

Another franchise that will not die until it flops so horribly nothing further can be extracted from it.

I watched the first two films and enjoyed them. I watched the third, hoping that it would wrap things up. When that ended with inconclusive sequel bait, I swore I would ignore further sequels: it's just another Hollywood franchise now, like capeshit, built by people with apathy for storytelling. All that matters is using a safe franchise to get people back into theaters, narrative finality be damned.

And now, I get to see people soyface over John Wick prolefeed as I mourn the death of another potentially cool film series to the Hollywood sequel machine.
