John Wick 4 and 5 - "Keanu's Gun-fu Show" meets "Fast and Furious"

This announcement is fine. The directors aren't pretentious and neither is Keanu. 3 was entertaining - the Halle Berry parts. If Tom Cruise can make 7 MI movies theres nothing wrong with them continuing the JW movies. They were never "high cinema" they are popcorn action flicks. As long as that continues they'll continue to get the job done.

John Wick 1 was great and was unique in feeling sort of realistic in tactics and gunplay with a lot of hints of systems within the world. Two expanded the, for the lack of a better term, lore in a fun way but had less realistic gun battles. 3 went into straight fantasy in both story and gunplay. I doubt the next films would go back into realism, but I hope they'll at least be enjoyable.

I think I saw the word "gun-fu" in an old tabletop rpg like cyberpunk or something.
They should make a crossover movie with Johnny Mnemonic. Dawn Of Johnstice.

I've really liked all three so far, so as long as they continue to be entertaining I'll keep watching them.
 
John Wick 4 or 5 should have a younger version of Keanu Reeves in the movie fighting his current older self. It could be like Terminator 2, if not better, but I worry it might be like the last two Terminator movies.

The original idea for John Wick was a trilogy. Then they became massively successful. So, now they are padding the story.

2 set up 3 for Wick to destroy the high table. But, three kinda meandered mainly concentrating on Wick surviving his excommunication.

It ends with setting up Wick destroying the high table.

But, they want to pad that even more. My guess is that 4 will be Wick vs a villian in equal ability to him.

Then 5 will be Wick destroying the high table and dying...

Bbbuuuttt....

Bill and Ted show up in 5 with the cure for cancer. Then Wick has to go back in time to save his wife, and hijinks ensue.

Wick gets zapped with metamorphose gun and becomes cancer which kills his wife...

Then, in six, Wick becomes a termite and eats the high table..

I mean a trilogy was pushing it to begin with but 4 and 5 announced at the same time? I like the John wick movies fine as they are but goddamn will they never learn the overexposure can burnout demand for more? At least taken knew when to call it quits with 3 since the I will find you and I will kill you meme died as quick as memes die

The second one was ok. The action is good but the signs this was going to be milked were already there.
I hate the third one; it finally broke into the mainstream and ruined everything the first one was. It's plothole'd to hell and boring. Literally nothing happens. Wick ends up in the exact same predicament as the end of 2, just with different opposition. There is no story anymore, and the love letter has been shat on with Fortnite tie-ins.

Instead of making more sequels parading Keanu's geriatric body around, why not just make more neo-noir action films instead?
This generation could do with more Hard Boiled, Dirty Harry (1), and A Better Tomorrow-like films, or games in the vein as Max Payne.



What a nice way to say "they'll keep happening as long as they make money" which is every hollywood franchise ever since the 50s.
I bet a lot of the fans of the 2014 original are not the same ones today.

I'm okay with it becoming Keanu Reeves version of Death Wish. The first movie was a very serious portrayal of a man wants to die a vigilante after his wife and daughter are raped with the former dying. The 2nd movie is a total B-Movie classic, the following sequels are just lovably trashy action films with each one becoming even stupider and sadder as Bronson aged rather poorly.

They should really end it before Keanu hits 60. The man has a combination of good genes and good lifestyle so he still looks better than a lot of people who are significantly younger than him. But usually age catches up when you hit the senior citizen mark,

Yeah, this particular franchise is dead.
I would not be surprised if they pull an Expendables 3 and edit the movie into a PG-13 and start abusing CGI.
I watched all 3 on opening night. I'm not watching 4 & 5 until they hit TV.

I'm exactly the opposite. I hated seeing such a good film like DW devolve into what it did.
Then Robocop went and did the same thing.

If Keanu has any pride in his work on JW, he should leave it be and let the studio find a replacement.
It's not like he needs money anyway, those Matrix checks reach really far.

Again, instead of milking one franchise, why not use that franchise to start a genre survival?
There has to be someone who's not a tard today and can make movies in the vein of John Woo or John McTiernan.
