I still remember the first time I heard Cash was in the opening of Zach snyder's dawn of the Dead.

Also whole world going to hell in a hand basket and a song about judgment day? Hindsight is a bitch isn't it?

Johnny Cash was thot patrolling before we even knew what it was. Truly a pioneer. Addict turned recovered Christian shitposter as well.

In seriousness, Cash is godlike. He basically became his own genre as time passed; he would cover songs irrespective of genre and straight up take other artist's songs away from them.

The man gained so much recognition over the decades that everyone of any age would know at least one of his songs. Ring of Fire was in a 2004 Tony Hawk game, so I don't think Cash's songs are going to fade from media anytime soon.

King.

I remember a comedian had a joke. He's at a store and they ask if he wants cash back. His response is "Ring of Fire, the Christmas album, and the Johnny Cash show? Of course I want him back. "
I really love this man and there really was nothing like him.

i was fortunate enough to have grown up with grandparents and parents who loved johnny cash.

he was the first person that i heard sing "the battle hymn of the republic". my grandmother had made an audio recording of it from his tv show. in it, johnny emphatically alters the lyrics of one of the verses from, "as he died to make men holy, let us die to make men free" to, "as he died to make men holy, let us live to make men free". it still gives me chills.

speaking of chills, this is one of my favorite performances. we mere mortals may only hope to find such a love.

i'll give credit to joaquin and reese for their renditions in walk the line, but the gift: the journey of johnny cash is as pure as it gets. he was an extraordinary man because he was a man of truth. there will never be another johnny cash.

Live from Folsom is one of my favorite live albums, the interaction with the crowd is like nothing else. also love this song, all about taking it slow ang letting things come your way over time.

I was in Nashville not too long ago for the Who Are These Podcast live show. Had a chance to visit the Johnny Cash museum. Was really just amazing to see the man's life laid out like that. Even more interesting is if you look into the interesting house he had later in life. The pictures in the museum make me wish it was still around but sadly it apparently burned down.

The thing that annoys me when it comes to Cash is that he was born and raised in Arkansas but we get 0 credit for him. People just simply lump him in with Tennessee.
