Taking recent events into account, what do you guys think about the people that can't bother to read the first 2 parts/just want to skip basically everything? Is telling them to just read from the beginning gatekeeping?

I think they're ABSOLUTE BUFFOONS to miss out on such bara ass content.

But I can understand why. Parts 3-6 feel WHOLLY separate from most of the things in Parts 1-2 (hamon, stone mask, etc.), so of course people wanna skip to le ebic stando battles.

They're retards and if they think that's gatekeeping they're even bigger retards.

What recent events?

Also, there's no fucking excuse. Parts 1 and 2 are short, and if you can't be assed to read the manga (which you should, part 2 is fucking badass) then just watch the anime, it's 26 episodes. I can understand an anime-only having some resistance to the idea of reading the manga for parts 6 and 7, I can understand a manga reader not wanting to follow Jojolion monthly, but I absolutely can't understand someone going out of their way to avoid main-series content that's relatively quick and easy to consume for literally no good reason. Jojo isn't fucking Fate where the source material is a VN that takes a hundred hours to play fully, we're literally talking about 26 standard-length anime episodes / 12 manga volumes here. I don't even particularly like Part 1 but it is in no way so bad that someone should refuse to read/watch it.

What recent events?
lolcow Mother's Basement decided to share a Jojo watching/reading guide to make the story more interesting (aka. a fucking mess) and got rightfully mocked and now telling people that you first start reading a story at the start is gatekeeping.
The guide:

And just for the laughs this too:

If I'm trying to get someone into Jojo who wouldn't watch it on their own, I'd definitely show them Part 4 first because I think it's the most effective standalone story (and also fuck Dio as a villain he sucks), but if they're interested enough to continue after that there's no reason not to have them go back from the beginning and read it in order.

The Jojo fanbase has been here for a long time, but only recently did it's popularity boom. The only infamy the community exudes is how obnoxious they are to make memes of everything. But the question is, what kind of scenario will it take for the community to be seen as HomeStuck tier by the general public? And how likely is it?

I imagine a possible situation is upon release of the Part 6 Anime, the woke twitter will claim one of the characters to be a trans character, so Anasui obviously, or on the other hand calls the series inherently political due to Pucci's backstory. The point is that the woke part of the community explodes and considers anyone who didn't like Part 6 to be some kind of bigot.

Another situation would probably when Lucy Steel shows up and that one cover of her being topless gets viral and Araki gets accused of being a pedophile.

Alternatively art of Hermes was drawn a little too pale and the community sends death threats to the artist.

I can think of several pickle rick moments showing up in cons and making an ass of themselves and calling it a Jojo reference, but I'm surprised none of that happened so far.

These are the kind of thoughts that keep me up at night. So what do you imagine is the one possible thing that can happen to make the community look irreversibly bad.

I don't think Part 6 would be liked by Woke Twitter given Jolyne loses in the end and Emporio defeats Pucci but I do think that woke twitter will still lionize Part 6 to then call Araki a sexist for Jolyne not instantly winning and also the Anti-SJW twitter going on tangents talking about how Jojo is woke propaganda because of female characters being the focus (believe it or not, these dumbasses actually exist).

But I think the Jojo fanbase is already seen as annoying anyway given how much they meme, act like everything is a reference, and spam the comments section of any song that was referenced in Jojo.

I'm a big fan of the anime, just getting into the manga though. Watching Part 5 has been the hardest part to watch so far because christ, it's been intense. Episode 35 of Golden Wind was probably the most difficult episode to watch for me. GW in general has been a hell of a ride.
Part 4 is one of, if not, my favorite part though.

I’m actually excited that I’m gearing up to watch the original Jojo’s episodes that date back to the years of 1993 and 2000. Hopefully I can save up enough money to buy the manga series from Phantom Blood to Diamond Is Unbreakable.

So I got to thinking today as I had a class on copyright and trademarks, leading to my brain considering the issues JJBA has had with localisation due to the music names and such. Is there any concrete information on the localisation process of the series? Stuff like any articles about the staff talking about what groups were more willing to let their names be used and such or the loopholes they jumped through?

I still haven't gotten through to watching Part 5 because I was burned by the shitty Part 5 scans when I initially read it.

In other news, there seems to be some new JoJo event coming out in April 2021. Your guess is as good as mine as to what this is about however.

I hope it's a game or movie/OVA.
