Hi.
Looks like he COULD be on the dole and still have money and property (your home is specifically allowed here)... Here's BC's rules. I'm interpreting this as all he really needs is a doctor's note and he's good to go, even if he has some cash moneyz stashed away.
Disability assistance can help you if you need financial or health support. You must be designated as a person with a disability to receive this type of assistance.

I've been here two whole minutes, please tolerate my ignorance for another 10 or 15 if I'm doing stuff wrong. I'll figure it out. (I hope, and if not, I'll quietly show myself out or go back to lurking).
In order to qualify for disability assistance, you first have to qualify for welfare where the rules are more stringent. No welfare programs allow eligibility if the applicant owns a business when applying for welfare. He'd have to prove that he'd filed for bankruptcy and that the businesses were closed which would be extremely difficult for him to prove since there are many records of him running businesses - whether they are registered or not...has anyone been able to find out if any of them are actually registered?....wouldn't matter. Every applicant has to provide an employment history and proof of unemployment at the time of application.
Canada Pension Disability also does not allow business owners eligibility. You have to have been a wage slave for a number for years and have a certain amount of contributions over your lifetime to qualify. It is extremely rare for someone as young as Yaniv (farmers say 32) to get this benefit.
Provincial income assistance programs also take into consideration the applicant's expenses, not only income and assets. If their expenses are greater than the amount they'd be eligible for from welfare, they will be ineligible for any assistance. In BC the maximum rate for a single person who actually qualifies for welfare is $760 CDN/$561.614 USD.
It's virtually impossible to live on welfare in BC where even an SRO (single room occupancy) is at least $675 and a studio apartment is around $1100. Since his expenses are bound to be over that amount, he would not be eligible as he'd be in a fraud situation in order to find the funds to cover them. In any case, we know he's not a renter and likely pays the mortage on two condos.
If you are approved for income assistance you will receive a basic support and shelter rate that is based on your situation and the size of your family unit.

Kiwis have stated that Yaniv owns both his own condo and the one Miriam lives in. This would also be a sure fire disqualifier.
You have to be virtually destitute to qualify for basic welfare in BC. He's not in any special category that would give him entry to the 'short application process' for the disabled (which is not short and generally takes over six months for a decision).

It would be very pleasant if we could hear something other than uninformed speculation about how Jonnyboy is getting free government money.
Incidentally, when the US tightened its rules for welfare eligibility, as usual Canada jumped on the bandwagon.
(Just as it can be more difficult for Americans to immigrate to Canada than it is for Canadians to emigrate to the US. This is thanks to Canada's 'homeland security act' which was demanded by the American government after 9/11. Naturally Canadians finally started freaking out after that.

BC welfare fraud inspectors are generally retired police officers or detectives. They just love catching fraudulent applicants. One can now receive a jail sentence for welfare fraud depending on the circumstances of course.
Even on the far-fetched possibility that he could qualify for any Canadian or BC assistance, the extended BC medical services plan certainly would not cover
both a nice little expensive walker AND a fancy expensive scooty-puffster like the one JY races. (Edit: the medical plan covers only the cheapest possible medical supplies for any legitimate, verified and doctored ordered devices.)
Edit: forgot to include the average rather for the provincial disability rate for BCers: $1183.42.

The starting amount for Canada Pension Disability is $917. and tops out at $1335.83. It is next to impossible to live in this area of BC.
Still wondering why it is that people think he could be getting any form of public assistance.
