Im assuming he doesnt have legal aid because that would have been something noted here. To get legal aid you have to go to your court date and tell the judge you want to make an application for legal aid and he will delay the case to allow you to do so and that'll take up your whole court day or more. Legal aid is also notoriously difficult to get. Legal aid is usually only given to the super poor who are facing serious jail time and they don't really bother with summary charges where the worst outcome is likely to be probation. But i've seen no mention of it here and the sleuths here are pretty thorough. It would be a glaring omission if nobody caught that so im assuming it didn't happen. There is no way he is paying for these lawyers. Tranada’s Legal Aid (ie. the taxpayer) would be paying for them, surely?
But lets say he does have legal aid and somehow we missed it which seems unlikely; there are a few very rare ways you can switch lawyers through legal aid although ive never seen it done. These being:
- Whether there has been a complete breakdown in the lawyer/client relationship.
- A lawyer’s inability to continue to represent you for ethical reasons or because their circumstances have changed.
- Your individual circumstances or vulnerabilities.
- The complexity of your legal case.
- How much work has been completed by your lawyer and billed to LABC.
- How many prior change of lawyer applications you have submitted.
