Is Yaniv starting to really pass himself off as Indigenous?
That's become a really popular thing in Canada, almost every second day there's someone being questioned, politely, from all walks of life and occupation (some high up government employee has claimed she's apart of 6 different tribes with "just trust me bro") because white women have convinced them they're being racist'd against by laying out what "indigenous" actually means so everyone walks VERY carefully. The blood rule has been called racist, the "having connections to the community' is insensitive for the people who were removed as kids. A white guy in a dress was mad they tried to exclude him from an Indigenous dance ceremony for, you know, not being a woman or native, and they were told to knock it off how dare they say what isn't native.

Ain't nobody want to be a nigger tho

Always thought it was interesting that people would claim to red-skinned or brown, etc before ever claiming to be a nigger.
You'll notice in addition to indigenous (i.e, born in Canada), he's stopped using 'trans' and now identifies as 'queer', I'm guessing because it's not really a word anybody can argue against.
I just wanted to say, I've kind of been against the term "Indigenous" because, especially in the English-language, its usage seems to denote a very specific kind of "Indigenous" or "Native people" that you don't see applied to other peoples who "Native" to their countries/regions as well (i.e - many ethnic groups Indigenous to Europe or Asia are hardly ever referred to as "indigenous peoples" the same way you call a Cherokee or an Australian Aborigine "Native").

I thought "First Nations" made more sense and seems to be the one word that can't really be misinterpreted (i.e - arguing that "Indigenous" should be applied to all Canadian citizens born in Canada). As it denotes ethnic groups who've lived in Canada long before European contact. But apparently for Canadian "census purposes" the term excludes the Metis and so on.

A lot of people hate the term “First Nations” because it’s so North American though. Unfortunately for the based amongst you, a lot of the anglosphere is getting pretty tired of USA/Canadian ideology and terminology.
Indigenous doesn’t really work either, eg. When talking about English or Japanese people, nobody uses it.

Calling himself queer at this point is completely redundant.
Not from his point of view. He thinks he passes as a woman, more importantly his ultra-shopped photo passes, and he needs to collect oppression points in the LGBTQ2SIAP category without outing himself.

I lol'd at "comes from a significant law background".
I hope he sues.

Feather Indians is a pretty unmistakable term.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders have been referred to as "indigenous Australians" for decades now. "First Nations" has only been introduced recently and doesn't seem to have been widely adopted and "native" only ever seems to get used in relation to Aboriginal people when referring to native peoples of multiple countries as a group. It's far more commonly used by people of all races to refer to their birthplace/home town.

I believe most ATSI people hate the term “First Nations” but just like nobody cared what LGB people thought when corporations forcibly added T and Q, nobody is listening to indigenous Australians.
Same here in NZ, Ardern’s WEF wokies are trying to tell indigenous people how to refer to themselves. Every Māori here that I know, outside of the ruling sub-class she has created, wants her to neck herself.

First Nations has been used in Canadian schools since the nineties. Actual Natives call themselves Indians. It gets confusing. Or Native. Indigenous is government speak. First Nations is PC Government Speak.
Yeah, "Indian" is basically a less offensive version of how black people have nigger word privilege.

Off topic: There are Indigenous Japanese: the Ainu. They're on their last gasp, as you would expect.

Spirit Mayo? I've heard a lot about their relative Lei, I'm sure they'll do very well for themselves. That might be the worst joke I've ever made on this site

Anyways, I wouldn't be surprised if the entire thing was just an empty threat by a stupid faggot.
I know Canada is a pansy country, but even they have to reach a point where they start to just tell someone no.
I thought Canada had a loser pays rule. If you sue someone and you lose, you have to reimburse the other side's legal fees.

I find the Ainu fascinating, but they're a good head scratcher for who is allowed to claim indigenous status.

If the Japanese are not indigenous to Japan, then what are they?

Is it possible for one group to be more indigenous than another group?

Either way, Tranniv isn't indigenous to anywhere other than the ladies' restroom on the Victoria ferry.

In an ideal world, a bunch of Sikhs would break out their kirpans and he would wind up wrapped in bog roll in tampon boxes all over BC.
