When you think about it, it's a movement based on men (in dresses) edging women back to the sidelines, convincing gay kids they're literally in the wrong body, and selling expensive prescription medications. I'm not tinhat conspiracy theorist but there's some real convincing articles out there arguing that rich right-wing gents and large corporations especially pharmaceutical companies are the ones behind the "grassroots" fronts.

no one who is on a psych watch in a developed country is going to get to have anything they could use to hurt themselves with. Phones have glass parts, metal parts, and batteries. These rooms go so far to keep any materials away from suicidal people as to order toilet paper without the cardboard tube in it. There generally aren't knobs on the sinks. Some mentally ill people really will hurt themselves with anything available to them, and if a health care system helped them do it via cell phone components then they would have gotten sued a lot and changed protocol. The only way I could work out him telling the truth in theory was that he was using his phone while being transported.

Gee whiz. I just went for the obvious example that everyone's heard of. Here is an article where someone else with more time and talent than I has come up with several more examples of a single conservative transgender person or group of conservative transgender people pushing this agenda by funneling tons of money through grassroots orgs. The article never even mentions Bruce. You could also google "transgender conservatives" and the top hit is about trans males supporting Trump. Or "transgender republicans" and get this article about Jennifer Pritzker and this one about Jennifer Williams talking about the large number of trans republicans he's met, both on the first page of results.

I'm not saying they're the majority. I'm saying there's a surprising but powerful and vocal minority.
