Is it a lawsuit or a HR tribunal? Those are two entirely different things. One has to abide by the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and established jurisprudence. The other one is a formality where you get your no-no kicked in for wrong-think.

My thinking is, if you send in an application they probably don't review it much at all until it enters formal acceptance. Just, "are the images submitted actual photos and not text or drawings, are they all of the same person, is the application complete, okay next round."
It did seem kind of cruel at first glance for them to let so many men in only to deny them at the next step, but that's just how these things work when you run them over the internet. You gotta get your phone screen/captcha layer in before you dig in to check if the entrant is a deranged pad-sniffing pedophile.

BCHRT reinstated the first case in December (Mint Tanning) so Poyer/Paradis could argue costs. No word since.
In February, the tribunal took on the Hot Mess Salon case and again granted JY anonymity when JY argued he needed it for protection from his critics. The hearing is scheduled for July.
Those cases plus at least a dozen others are complaints to the tribunal vs. an actual suit, but Jonathan has also filed actual suit against the lawyers in his tribunal cases, as well as Meghan Murphy and Lindsay Shepherd.

More or less. It's fairly predatory even at the higher ranks, and the whole thing is kind of damn weird to begin with.
There's an argument to be made that the practice of parading grown women on stage to be judged and summarily ranked on desirability isn't sending a great message, culturally speaking.
It's odd to me that someone who runs on a platform of how woke and progressive they are is participating and lauding what is essentially a dog show for women.
That aside, I don't see why people are so pissed on the idea of him competing. We've seen the contenders. John wants to be placed on a stage with them and ranked objectively in terms of attractiveness?
Let's be legit: there are more beautiful and accomplished options on that stage. Even if you filled the stage with nothing but transwomen, there are objectively ones who pass better, have done more with their lives, and have less history of creeping on goddamn children.
He wants to see where he measures up?
