If that shit is on Switch 1 (and it most definitely will be) just emulate that shit. Ryujinx and Yuzu can run any switch 1 game you throw at it with usually no issues as long as you have a decent enough rig"Oh wow, they're actually localizing a Madou Monogatari game for WW release, maybe I should check it out..."

I settled on grabbing the Switch version since I can pop it into my Switch 2 and hopefully smooth out any rough edges in performance. I could have also grabbed the PS5 version but my PS5 is sitting unplugged in a box somewhere and I don't really feel like digging it out for one game.If that shit is on Switch 1 (and it most definitely will be) just emulate that shit. Also is the series worth getting into? I saw a vid a long while back about the PC-98 Madou Monogatari games and they seem like solid, albeit archaic first person dungeon crawlers.
Yeah I just finished this one and it's probably my favourite Persona game. My computer broke so I needed a console game while I wait for parts, this series is great for when you have exactly one hundred hours to waste. If you're into SMT, I'd also give Metaphor Re;Fantazio a try too. It's probably my favorite Atlus release in the last couple of years and the gameplay is literally FF5's Job System with SMT's Press Turns along with the day to day life sim shit introduced in Persona 3.
First of all,Bit late, but according to the maniacs at /v/, Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is far superior to the JRPGs it took inspiration from.

They're obviously trolling (I hope), but are there JRPGs that do things better than it?
Which is weird because half the threads on E33 on /v/ devolve into coomposting about Maelle in her swimsuitbecause there's no "icky anime aesthetic" attached to the game so normies can play it without feeling any slight tinge of shame
I put it in the same boat as Baldur's Gate 3 in having a solid core with a lot of QoL mixed in, and a variable amount of depth so both casuals and experts can enjoy tweaking the party setup. It's a fantastic game, but I felt that it didn't really manage to hit the emotional and/or gameplay resonance that the greats did. At most you have a sperging on the ending (which admittedly merits discussion rather than being a generic ending) but I just can't see myself remembering it the same as a lot of PS2 classics like Shadow Hearts 2, Valkyrie Profile 1 and 2 and .hack.Yeah there are a ton and Expedition 33 is not a perfect game. As I've said several times in the Expedition 33 thread and even in my post about the game in here, the game and the devs have a clear love for old JRPGs. The only reason why it's getting a lot of attention and praise for "solving JRPGs" is because there's no "icky anime aesthetic" attached to the game so normies can play it without feeling any slight tinge of shame. As silly as that sounds, that's more or less the reason for this game's success.
There isn't anything done in E33 that wasn't done in a JRPG 20+ years ago. E33 is a great game in that it's just as good as a lot of PS2 RPGs but it's not any better than them. Games like Legend of Dragoon and Shadow Hearts have comparable systems. Of course it's /v/ so the guy is ragebaiting, there's almost no crossover between suikoden and E33Bit late, but according to the maniacs at /v/, Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is far superior to the JRPGs it took inspiration from.

Somehow she's attracted the lolicons just because she's underage by a few years, there's the usual codewords. I don't get it either.Which is weird because half the threads on E33 on /v/ devolve into coomposting about Maelle in her swimsuit
100% recency bias on top of being good games in their own right. That new Donkey Kong game is third and it's been out for like a week. I wouldn't take rankings like this that seriously imo.For some reason, E33 and Baldur's Gate 3 are the two highest rated games on Backloggd.
Wonder why that is.
Is it worth playing Octopath 1 to get to Octopath 2? Everything I've heard about Octopath 2 makes me believe its a straight upgrade in every way possible.Finished Octopath Traveler II (including the true ending) and it was amazing. Really good 8/10 that would have been a 10/10 on par with the classics like Chrono Trigger if they had discarded the path gimmick and instead had the characters all go together on a singular journey.
I know there could be something that gets lost when you combine the paths together, but I feel like the potential would be worth it. You can easily see the potential with the limited "crossed paths" stories where two characters work together would occur. The cast would have been even better as a true party working together.
Other than that, fantastic story, glorious music, the battle and job system is interesting, and it all wraps up pretty nicely. I was genuinely sad and little misty-eyed by the end watching everything come to a conclusion.
Unless you think you'd be absolutely turned off by the "path" concept I'd recommend it to anyone who likes JRPGs. Just be prepared for a bit of dissonance seeing only one character interact in a path's story but then splitting into a full four-member party to fight stuff.
I remember playing like 1/3 of the way through and deciding it was too much similar to the first gameplay wise, and that I didn't give a shit about the plot, so I moved to the next game on the backlog.Finished Octopath Traveler II (including the true ending) and it was amazing.
