Jurassic World

Just saw it. I wish the main characters were eaten by the dinosaurs. Sadly, this did happen.

I saw it this afternoon and enjoyed it. I didn't think it was as good as the original but it wasn't as cheesy as the other sequels (although I like the sequels)

I liked the scene where Owen comforts the dying Apatosaurus - it was so sad :'(
Indominus Rex is such a badass - but it was no match for the mosasaur  - the final battle was great
I liked that they stole an idea from the Creationist Museum and had the kids ride little triceratops

Here is a video that documents some references from the first movie in Jurassic World (there are spoilers, of course)

I definitely had a lot of fun with this movie, now that I've finally seen it. Definitely one of 2015's best efforts, IMHO - especially thanks in part to all of the bloody and chaotic dino carnage on display!

The bit where it became too much for me was when
the raptors put on those tactical HUD helmets and they had fucking minimaps and squad indicators.

Just in case I go into too much detail.
It was a decent movie, although I couldn't find myself getting attached to any of the characters. The humans were basically archtypes, to drive the story of the park.
- The overly emotional, little brother
- The tough older brother
- The super serious female who needs to learn the importance of getting in touch with her emotional side
- The tough rugged ex-military guy who knows what the hell he is doing. You know he was going to be the love interest and show Ms. Serious the way.
- The big bad general who was asking for it.
The most interesting human to me was the Jurassic park fanboy. At least he felt like he had some sign of depth, but not enough for me to bother remembering his name if he even had one.

This of itself isn't bad, they just felt more like tools that drive the story. The story is about shit going wrong in the park and setting the stage for the dinosaur fight. It is a popcorn film, you can't expect anything deep from it. I wouldn't have felt sad if any of them die, but we all know that main characters have plot armor to protect them. We're watching this for the dinosaurs, fuck the humans.

I wish they would have gone deeper into exploring the implications of how none of the dinosaurs are true to their original design. Besides how it can create an uncontrollable monstrosity. Then again there is only so much they can cram into a 2 hour movie, but they probably could have made up for it by spending less time with the boys. I didn't find their interpersonal drama interesting, but it was an excuse to explore the new park by shadowing them I suppose. And it probably gives the kids someone they can relate with. To be fair, they did touch the unintended consequences when the rapters turned on the humans.

They did a good job on the dinosaur fights. I enjoyed the TRex/abmination fight. It is nice to see the raptors were not unthinking drones when they joined in.

It is refreshing to see Hollywood make a decent modern sequal. It does a good job paying homage to the original movie (which I really need to see again) while adding a touch of its own to the franchise. It is a popcorn flick, don't look for a lot of depth from it.

Was a better movie than any of the Jurassic Park sequels. The Indomidus camouflaging was kind of dumb though.

I really enjoyed the homage to the original where the T-Rex went after Lex and Tim through the roof of the car. My favorite part though, was when

all the flying dinosaurs were terrorizing the visitors in the park, right outside the "Pterosaur IMAX Experience" theater. I couldn't help laughing thinking about the usual IMAX reactions "So life like and real, almost like they were actually there"

Watched it. It was a dumb film, particularly where the InGen head was giving dinosaurs the go for military applications (which is so stupid it's ridiculous), and the final fight where suddenly it turned into dinosaur WWE, becoming too intelligent in their decisions and obvious Hollywood-esque combat.

That being said, it was a better movie than III, and it beat Lost World in several areas.

I wish that the movie was better, there was lots of potential in the premise, but it wasn't bad, I don't hate it, it was pretty fun and better than III.

Fallen Kingdom is much worse, but I don't hate it either.

Unlike say Disney Wars there's nothing in them that is an insult to fans of Jurassic Park, it may not live up to the first movie's pedigree, but it feels very respectful of the property and that counts for a lot these days.

There's some things that confuse me though, what happened to Site B? I guess the implication is that the dinosaurs there were moved to Jurassic World, since in Fallen Kingdom the volcano is supposed to be threatening extinction for the dinosaurs again, but in which case the only T Rex we see is the one from the first movie, so what happened to Site B's T Rexs?

At any rate I'm actually really excited for the next movie.

Fallen kingdom is the only jp movie where I skip over something. After the cold opening on isla nublar I hit chapter skip because I hated seeing the whole dinosaur protection group and msnbc news coverage in theaters.

Also the characters frankyn and zeta really pissed me off Franklyn because he's such a whinny wimp and screams like a girl the first time he sees a carnivorus dinosaur and zeta because she's an angry lesbian feminazi. No joke she was originally planned to be the first openly gay character in the Jurassic series, something I hope never happens because then the last good thing from my childhood will finally be dead to me.

See, I got the impression that those characters were mocking people like that, the whole thing felt very tongue in cheek to me.
