I like the "unfinished" bully better than the new one..
Its just that theres too much going on for my ears, i think you can get used to it, its just not the kind of music i usually listen to. With combining samples and real instruments theres always some kind of inherent dissonance. Its not only that real instruments playing together are tuned to the same frequency but with the samples theres also compression and time stretching artefacts (theres this interview where they asked aphex twin if they could use a piano sample and aphex twin was like sure, do you want me to re record it for you in perfect quality with the right tempo and either Ye or his representatives were like "nah im good bro"). Sometimes it just sounds like it doesnt really fit together.
It can be used to great effect (in a lofi kind of way like ween or guided by voices recording on a cheap portastudio), I'm a fan of artists that lean into that, Madvillinary and that King Geedorah album, RZA has some cool stuff (36 chambers obviously and Bobby Digital, later Wu albums are more like what I'm talking about). But when you take that and polish it with a perfect mix and lots of dynamic range compression it just sounds like something it wasnt supposes to be (not quite polishing a turd but putting lipstick on a pig maybe?).
Also the demo or whatever its called be just feels much more personal or even honest, i can imagine ye sitting in front of a laptop just jamming wheras with the new release I just see a consortium of corporate producers and record executives in front of my minds eye..
edit: forgot to mention the AI stuff. I hate that shit for programming, i hate the fucking images and cringey videos, but I love what ye did with it haven seen or heard a more creative use of it.
