Karl Marx is a idiot

This is going to be scattered but Karl Marx is a bullshitter and asshole who would've been a lolcow if he were alive today. Let me explain my reasoning, starting with some of the shit he wrote and his character.

He wrote revisionist history about the French Revolutions to make it his wet dream worker's revolutions. In particular liked to portray the 1848 one as a worker's one and not people upset at the July Monarchy for having increasingly bad policy making and despite the fact the revolutionary leaders outright rejected socialism of the era and the red flag he liked to say the revolution was betrayed by the French Conservatives who went against the will of the people.

He also wrote that the revolution would happen in an industrialized nation like America, France, or the UK. Instead, his glorious revolution happened in a backwards shithole called the Russian Empire, and only after Communist exiles were sent into the country by the German Empire when the revolutionaries who overthrew the monarchy in favor of a republic stayed in WW1. Even then they only succeeded when they were allowed to take up arms from said government to quell a insurrection and quickly turned on their retarded allies in Moscow from soon to be renamed Leningrad.

Marx, despite claiming to support workers, never knew workers or worked a day in his life. He was a upper class man from his birth and all his socialist friends were similarly raised, either sons of professors or factory owners. None of these people actually worked in factories or asked workers their thoughts on labor. His very labor theories made no fucking sense, and shit like the value of labor was never put to an actual test.

Marx also regularly yelled at and stormed out of meetings with said friends of his in English pubs, because they disagreed with him. These same friends he relied on for charity and lending him money he never paid back, because he refused to get a job and instead wrote his stupid theories all his life.

His relationships with his family were equally bad from letters preserved. He was estranged from his father, who cared for him until the day he died, asking his son to visit him. His sister was similarly worried for him and asked him to get a job and to quit begging for donations. The only times Marx wrote to his family was asking for money or to insult them for not believing his cause.

Because of his refusal to get a job at anything, his wife and children lived in poverty and he smelled like shit. He wanted to LARP a wealthy man though and chose to live in a pricey (for the period) home that he couldn't afford without begging. Two of his daughters would end up committing suicide after his death and he abused all of his children. He also cheated on hiss wife with his paid and never acknowledged the son he had with her in his entire life. This maid was his only interaction with the working class in his entire life.

Why the fuck was this asshole ever taken seriously.

Because things were genuinely that shitty for "average" people during the industrial revolution that they would look for literally anything and anyone to "fight" for them. That and he had massive sponsors ironically from major capitalist industrialists. His greatest sponsor being his ghost co-writer Friedrich Engels, who hilariously enough treated his workers like utter dog shit and was an abusive alcoholic.

Marx would literally insult all his sponsors by calling them greedy capitalists whenever they tried to ask for even tiny portions of their money back, so not much has changed with modern day Marxists.

In essence, much like modern day Marxists Marx was funded and propped up by the wealthy 1% who ran the world for shits and giggles.

You know, good question, just like your pfp counterwise.
I can't take you seriously, but made a fair point about Marx.
Man, if is the same people who uses Che Guevara shirts when going to fag marches... is basically humans wasting oxygen.

Marx was cunning, in that he was able to take basic truisms and observations (when material conditions change, political instability follows) and dress them up with fancy sounding “scientific” terminology so that Dunning-Kruger types would get validation from buying into it.
Marx has a few useful memes to plunder (lumpenprole is a great insult) but that’s just about it. His theories are about as scientific as miasma theory. An incomplete, flawed model that should be looked at as a historical curiosity.

Not an expert but didn't the left had mix feelings about Marx back at the time when he was alive? I know that Abraham Lincoln was distantly friends with him (they never met in person but exchanged letters), didn't the Paris Commune people hated him after he chastised them for looting everything except for the Bank of France? I always got the impression that Marx was just one of the many cogs of the leftist machine of the first two Internationals until Lenin cited him as the creator of his ideology.

Anyone who tries to sell ideas of that size ends up sounding like an idiot. There are not simple, broad reaching answers to these questions. You can't really blame him for trying though, it was untested ground. We didn't truly figure out how hopeless utopian ideologies are until WW2.

He still had a lot of wise things to say about smaller points, like that history is primarily driven by economics rather than abstract ideals (somehow that was a new idea when he proposed it).

He was an essayist, nothing more. Starting with Lenin, leftists sans liberals decided to attribute an ideology to an 1848 pamphlet. There wasn't. Marx was inconsistent ideologically and he railed against "Marxists". Damn OP for making me defend him.

Overall, I agree with your idea that Marx would be a plausible LOLcow candidate the fact that he was able to write anything at all is kind of remarkable given the account of his lifestyle. I've read Marx and I don't know if he's an absolutely dreadful writer or if the English translation is just bad.

I kind of take issue with this specific point though and want to ask to those who argue that a wealthy or upper-class person can't support workers what they would have to do to be taken seriously. If Marx was a factory owner, exploiting workers by his own standards it would be different but when is it hypocrisy and when is it using your place of power to advocate for the poor in good faith? I mean this more as a general question than specifically about Marx himself.

The one interaction he had with the working class was with his maid, and he raped her.

Marx was right about class issues being a serious social problem, but his race categorically refuses to eat its own, so he wasn't able to name them beyond the class basis.

Marx is an academic rock star whose ideas have spread and inspired countless professors and plebs alike. For all his faults and critics he's based.

The west has no Marxism. Jesus fucking Christ, I don't even know why this gets brought up so much? No one gives a fuck about Marx or wants Marxism. What people take issue with is the loss of real wage growth across the board after 43 years of supply side (which is still going strong).

I feel some people are so fucking retarded they think past economic policies that propped up the middle class are Marxism when they are not.

Bingo. If you're in any non-shithole country worrying about a Marxist takeover is just as retarded as worrying about Fascism. It's a chicken little the-sky-is-falling delusion peddled by partisan media outlets to keep their voterbase scared enough to show up to the polls every election cycle.
