I think most people here could probably understand this, but chicken wings in the air fryer are super fucking easy. 15-20 minutes, turn them about halfway. You don't even have to brush oil on them or anything because they have enough fat that they don't dry out.

Wanted to chime in on this as I am reading a few pages back. I don't think DSP's cat budget is that bad. It's pretty high for a single cat, but not extreme. For reference, my girlfriend has 3 cats and it averages out to $100/month per cat. She's a vet and so she only buys high quality food. I think DSP stated he buys Tiki Cat, and I asked her about it. She said it is a bit more expensive than what we expend on her cat food, but she also says it is about as high quality as it gets except for freshly-made meals. (Apparently that exists) She asked if he had regular medical expenses, which of course we don't know. It's possible DSP's cat could have a daily pill or something along those lines. Either way, I'd rather him feed his cat like a king than underfeed it and spend it on his phone games. $30 per month for four cats sounds scarily low from your friend. That's genuinely concerning unless it's a currency conversion from another country.

It sounds like the cats are eating the kind of food that’s like a shelter above actual cardboard tbh. You can get cheap ass cat food but it’s not good for the cats and will make them sick.
There’s this, the site doesn’t give a price for it bit iirc it’s probably around $1.29 for a 3 lb bag. It is terrible food but it’ll keep your cats alive for a while.

Cat food, like dog food, is 100% able to feed the cat indefinitely, no matter the price.
a few decades ago it was mandated that animal food should be safe for human consumption in order to keep the standards high for the pet food.
no pet will get sick or die from store bought pet food.
marketing though has created the illusion that only the more expensive shit is good.
the major part in the price of a pet product is the marketing cost and the brand recognition.
brands have to teach people that cats and dogs like different shit. fact is that your cat likes whatever you have spoiled her with. I was living in france for a few moons and (I think I said this before) the owner's cat on the place I was renting, didn't eat anything but a specific brand of canned cat food. That shit didn't even eat grilled chicken or fish.
all cat food brands use fillers like corn and shit, which are fine for pets, some have more, some have less and some have leftovers from different parts of animals and different animals.
the only thing that kills pets is apartments, not cheap cat food.
I have several cats and a few dogs running around inside a field and the only drugs they get is for intestine parasites because they live in the same place with chickens and goats.
The cats eat the same dog food that the dog eats, they eat leftover food with meat, veggies or legumes, they run around and steal food from the chickens like bread or grounded corn and ofc they eat shit like mice, etc.
