This is perhaps reading too much into things, but the recent audio clip where Phil is acting like spraying himself with a bit of water is about the most outrageous thing ever may be giving us some clues as to how done with his shit Katherine is. She doesn't have anywhere else to go, so she's not about to divorce the pigroach over it, but she has probably pieced together that there is some kind of black hole sucking up Phil's money. It doesn't take much to figure that out, after all.
Oh I seriously doubt that Phil was ever ignorant of it being substantial. Every time he has ever spoken about spending money on mobile games, he has been weird about it, like when he said "I spent a little bit of some money", verbatim, or that one post on the Supercards forum, with the weird pause even though he was typing and it would've stood out a lot less if he hadn't included that. Not to mention that if he was telling the truth about Champions, and he knew the investment was not more than a couple grand, his behavior would be very different. For over a year, Phil has been absolutely terrified of that account being linked to him, to the point where he wouldn't even name the fucking game despite it being repeated to him over and over again that that's what detractors are talking about. And his latching on to the $140k figure long ago, despite "$40k" being spammed in the chat.
I think he would for his gacha spending. I don't just look at what Phil fails to be aware of, I look at everything in his life, and I see a clear pattern with WHAT he fucks up on. He has known, since long before Champions existed, not to be more than unhelpfully vague about his gacha spending, even while so many judgmental eyes were NOT on him at the time, even while other players, other whales, would simply be trying to gauge what kind of investment they might be looking at to reach the next level. Shit, even when he was trying to warn people about the nature of predatory mobile games, Phil declined to even so much as exaggerate for the purpose of getting it across, in plain English, what kind of money it can suck out of you. It's one thing for me to tell you a Bugatti Veyron is expensive, quite another for me to show you a pile of other expensive stuff you could buy for the same amount of money it takes to simply maintain such a vehicle for a year. He could have sent the point home in a really powerful way by being clearer about his figure, and I don't think he refrained from doing so out of genuine ignorance, because he lies about too many things.
The way Phil posted in his WWE Supercard days was that he enjoyed being the "celebrity" that played the game and the attention he got from that, but he always talked like warning others to not spend too much money like the other guys with gambling problems, while Phil was clearly one of the bigger whales in the game still, bragging about how stacked his lineup was. And that 2K were greedy fucks and he'll quit the game this week for the 100th time unless they change, etc...
