He also included some stories from sources we know to be false, like the Infancy Gospel of Thomas, where Jesus creates clay birds and gives them life. It's just that the more I study Islam and the Quran, the more convinced I am that it's straight from Satan. I actually think it's possible that Islam is what St. Paul is referring to in 2 Corinthians chapter 11 when he talks about false prophets preaching a different Jesus and a different Gospel. I tend to believe that Giberal was some kind of Demon that took on the face of Gabriel the messenger of God. However, just because Muslims were duped by a demon doesn’t mean that they intend to pray to Satan 5 times a day, they do not know they were tricked yet they are still aiming for the Almighty.

The man who has memorized the Bible, but sits in his house all day rambling and raving about esoterica or the ignorant man volunteering at the soup kitchen and raising his children to be decent people on religious values he just sees as "common sense".

I would argue that people not seeing the latter man as religious and pious is part of why irrelegion has gained popularity in the west. The face of religion is either grifters or autists who are poor examples.

I see this all the time at my parish especially because we have TLM available. Very few cradle Catholics are out there reading Aquinas or Canon Law. Oddly enough many of them wind up switching to Eastern Orthodox after a few years.

Taylor Marshall said he decided to be almost exclusively TLM-attending because one NO parish had a guy in a Cookie Monster shirt give him the Consecrated Host (I think he mentioned it was on a spoon but I thought that was only a Byzantine Rite/EO thing?) God, this was such a good interview. Also highly recommend the Apostate Prophet x Matt Fradd interview if you want to learn more about Islam. I believe both AP and Ismail were Sunnis, so there is some things they used to believe that the Shia don't, but I still highly recommend both interviews.

In my experience, the cradle Catholics who are especially interested in TLM, Aquinas, Canon Law, etc. tended to become interested via converts to Catholicism. Of course, some cradle Catholics were simply always interested in it.

Anyway, I wanted to sperg out about something I'm struggling with. Apologies if this isn't the right thread to talk about it in, but I promise it's Catholic-related. When I was talking to my boyfriend (who is Muslim) recently, something clicked and I realized that we were unequally yoked and that our relationship would never work out. So, I broke up with my boyfriend. The other reason why I broke up with him though was because I developed a crush on one of my friends who is Catholic (and conservative). The more I talk to my friend, the more I realize how alike we are and that he would be a good person to date. Unfortunately, he is going across the country to get a PhD. Luckily, my job is remote, but I'm currently saving up money before I move. I don't want to move across the country just for a guy, but I also want to try dating him. Luckily, we talk online every day, and we both have each others phone numbers so we could call if possible. I just wish I could see him in person, it would definitely make things easier. Does anyone have any ideas of what to do? I've been praying about it a lot.

I cannot speak from personal experience, but I have seen long distance relationships work, but only if the couple has already met either before or during the relationship. My advice would be to continue to pray to God for a sign and also to reflect on if you can see yourself together long term.

Personal confession, seeing people randomly blurt "Christ Is King" on an off-roading video only evokes "shut up faggot". Belief should be unshakeable and secure; when The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name they did not mean victimizing themselves for attention.

For these people: stop posting random platitudes and do some work. You'll find the itch goes away quickly- a lot like just not being gay. You don't need to bring it up randomly.

I officialy (at least according to my country) quit my confession and am without one (tax reasons). I am not believing either, so in my situation, why should I go to extreme lengths and officially get a stamp from the church I do not follow? Its not required by the state, and I am fine without it. I just dont see how it would work. I feel a little as if its the same situation as councilors in army boot camps. Trying to get you to change your opinion and try again, weasel you in.

i think its more of a symbolic thing. "now i am officially an atheist" type of thing

Well normally with "Folk Catholicism" I try to be charitable and look at the positives.

However santa muerte has been formally condemned by the Catholic Church so I will follow suit.

As for why it looks so creepy, it's a personification of death.

You would think an obvious demon like it would try to be more subtle and human in appearance like much of its unholy brethren. Same goes for the rest of the South American pantheons, who all just look extremely demonic and unholy.
