No joke when Archie reprinted that series, they actually had to cover up Sally with wisps of steam because the original art was just a few lines and dots shy of being kens personal fap material,

He did bought some quality to the book which was either hit or miss. Like the characters were a hit. The miss being like his shit stories or certain contents from the series that got him blow back years after.

Sonic Team is to the 90's what Gamefreak is to now. Too far up their own ass to do anything pro-consumer. Just push out more bland, by-the-numbers mainline series games, scouting how much they can get away with it, while still selling millions of copies to people who buy anything with the name Sonic on it.

Pale green for the skin, a darker green for the scales, actually white eye whites and maybe yellow irises, for a sort of reptile/cat's eye look. Hair either very dark green or black. I DEFINITELY thought the corn cob on the head would be the same color as the scales on the body.
Fool that I am, I thought he'd go with a simple, complimentary color scheme to tone down an already complicated character design instead of adding more complexity with a bunch of starkly contrasting colors. Obviously I underestimated Penders' tendency to ignore the fundamental concepts of good art design.
Arceus is out in like four days and is a huge mixup for the series... people with their hands on it already seem to think it's great. Coming from the pokemon community that normally hates everything, they seem to have done something right.

We give ken a inch he gives us a mile and always somehow makes things worse and considering he reads sources like this
and tries to make the Lara so project sound like a movie and work off the MPAA rating which the last time someome did that for a comic fucked their mom

The Pokemon community loves every game for the first few weeks and it isn't until a month later that the newest game becomes the worst one in the series. Heck I'd say the Pokemon community is too forgiving and isn't critical enough of the franchise.
What? They're the bitchiest fanbase on earth. They were crying about a tree in sword and shield for months long before the game came out lol.

if I wasn't already, I'm convinced Penders is a Pedo. He had no reason to explain that the "chameleon" is 16, and why she doesn't wear clothing. Also hey, if this is like sci-fi, you can have special clothes that vanish alongside the rest of the body.

To be fair, he probably explained why she doesn't wear clothing because people kept mentioning it and asking him about it. To be even more fair, they kept mentioning it and asking him about it cause he chose to make her naked. And Penders has a bit of a history with 16 year old fictional characters, as @Dumbchan already pointed out.

So in typical MxR fashion I spent way too much time on something completely autistic but I got to experiment with digital coloring stuff so it was worth the autism!
Originally my plan was to do an additional piece where I took his inks on Salma's face and re-color them to not look like ass but I decided I didn't want to look at this dude's art that long, so I just did a re-design of Salma. You could definitely pull off the unclothed look for an alien character but the physical design is going to be important in whether or not it's weird. Since this is sci-fi you I just said "color-changing jumpsuit, baby!" I almost wish I made her scales more visible but I was going for less-is-more. I have also downplayed the head-corn.
I wanted her to have a similar vibe as my re-design of Lara-Su I did a year earlier. In some alternate universe where Ken isn't a manbaby, Lara-Su Chronicles is a kid and pre-teen friendly adventure story about fun and friendship in outer space that children nationwide adore, making Archie Comics rue the day they let the Great and Talanted Penders go.
