Why do so many AGPs wear glasses instead of contacts? Am I imagining it? Maybe there’s some correlation between AGP and being too much of a pussy to wear contacts, I’ll contact my local research university with this discovery.

My guess? Standard AGP failure.

Because they don't suffer from it, they have no idea just how goddamn crippling mental illness and autism really is. A lot of famous, creative people, and world leaders now and in history have been speculated to suffer from mental illness or otherwise some malady, and yet, they still were able to be amazing people that have been important enough to record their life and their works. They see this, and think, "Oh, I suffer from a mental illness or autism, so therefore, I am just as talented and creative and special as so and so". They think it makes them quirky and special, and, also, they get to use it to excuse their behavior and milk in pity points.

Which when people try this shit with me, I tell them to get on goddamn medication or fuck off.

Yeeeeah, the 'uwu quirky and speshul' attitude they have about this is outright sickening. It's a huge part of why I don't believe they have dysphoria--I mean, notice that Kev forgets he has it pretty regularly.

They also tend to always be self-diagnosed, or started as it & doctor-shopped. Remember, the dumbest doctor to pass the boards is called "Doctor"!

They do a terrible job cleaning themselves. You just know they'll fail at basic contact cleaning and get pinkeye in the first week or so of wearing them.

Also worth noting an awful lot are autistic. The contacts on their eyes might put them in sensory overload.

As somebody who wore contacts at one point: You shouldn't be able to feel them if they're properly fitted. If the fit's really good, you can even have to go looking for the lens's edge to figure out if you've got 'em in still.

Don't wear contacts in chem labs unless you are okay risking having to get them surgically removed, though.

I think it's a way for them to cover up their face and reinforce their femininity by wearing female glasses. It's a mask, literally and figuratively.

People look different with glasses on, so donning a pair could be an attempt in hiding their masculine features and signalling that they're women. The thing that troons don't realize though, is that women's glasses aren't made for the average man's facial shape. The glasses tend to be too small and thus make their face look bigger, so it just highlights their masculine features.

Now, women who are a bit self conscious in their womanhood tend to reinforce it by preforming femininity. It's classic overcompensating. A good example is how some black women who wear earrings or dress explicitly feminine to convey that they're women because in their childhood they were constantly mistaken as male. I think it's the same thought process here with troons. The difference here though is that black women are women and they will realize that no matter how they dress, they are still women while it'll never be true for mtf troons.

Yeah, glasses can be a quick substitute for makeup. They shape your face and draw attention to your eyes. Some troons are low-effort with makeup, probably because they're not good at it, so glasses get them a complete "feminine" look without fiddling with eyeliner.

Might also be because mild vision issues commonly co-occur with autism etc., and opticians are generally reluctant to suggest contacts if you're in the grey area of "can still see mostly fine, but everything looks a bit shit without some sort of correction" because they feel the risks outweigh the benefits. Prettys sure contacts are also more expensive in the long-run than a dirt cheap pair of glasses, and we all know troons are unemployed.

Worth noting that, for better or worse, the diagnostic critera for autism have been massively widened in the last several years. Previously you had to be extremely non-functional, now there's the whole idea of a spectrum and some people being able to hide their symptoms better etc. etc. I'm generally inclined to think that many of the troons claiming to be autistic actually are - because we know many troons are autists from several studies - but they larp their symptoms up on twitter for asspats and validation. You see a similar thing in tiktok autists, where even the ones I suspect genuinely are autistic just full-on make shit up or act for the camera. Nothing saying you can't be autistic and also a pathologically-lying attention whore.

To be fair, an unusually-shaped cornea oftentime fucks your chances with contacts. Finding mass-produced lenses for astigmatic curvature is easy now, but if your cornea is wider than the average max, then you can only go fuck yourself or pay a ton for custom contacts.
It's rare, and I doubt Kev's vision problems go beyond simple mild eyesight loss (and he wears glasses because it's easy and convenient for him), but I just had to sperg.
