Well, I took the plunge and decided to tell one of my friends about about OPL. She of course says "Is this guy real?" Two minutes later, she sends this link: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/a-doc ... ler?c=home
I'm not saying you should donate, but if they get their money, I'd say it would have to come mainly from the crowd on this forum.

Edit: to clarify my friend is not involved in this campaign. She merely found it and brought it to my attention.

Why would we need a documentary when we have the cwcki? Chris and barb arent going to talk so its pointless.

Brother, this is a worse idea than when Big John Studd challenged the Hulkster for the World Wrestling Federation championship.

What exactly do they need money to flim? Chris and Barb will not be interviewed, and the Cwcki already has plenty of videos and information. There is nothing this project can add or accomplish. Tell your friend to research CWC more before trying something like this.

A documentary on Chris would have zero artistic or informational merit. Timothy Treadwell was similarly clueless and just like Chris, completely unwilling to listen to people who implored him to realize the insanity of his ways. But "Grizzly Man" was a valid presentation because said cluelessness actually got him and someone else horrifically killed.

The only possible merit would maybe be a cautionary tale about the perils of untreated developmental disorders, and even then then there are probably about 100 more compelling stories of that that don't require that you watch some dude fuck a blow up doll or drink his own spunk.

My friend isn't behind the project. She just found it when she was googling in an attempt to understand the trainwreck I showed her.

Someone must get this idea at least once a month at this rate and folks here say the same thing every time

srsly does it not occur to you people to search for your thread idea before you post it? have you never posted on forums before?

Should I be worried that no one appears to be JULAAAAY-ing it?

lol someday I was planning to make a true and honest documentary myself (really short and pretty cheaply put together) but I don't think I will send any to the group as to me it sounds more like a scam

Oh gosh, this girl is talking about setting up a Kickstarter in addition to the Indiegogo campaign.

That just sounds phenomenally stupid to me. I mean, I'm not sure if this is how Indiegogo works, but I'm pretty sure that on Kickstarter you won't see a RED CENT of what was pledged unless you meet your donation goal. And setting up two different fundraisers nearly halves the (already pretty slim, in this case) chances that either one of them will meet their goal.

Also who in the world would PAY five grand to appear in a movie about Chris?? (It's not even specified if that includes travel costs, accommodations, etc....)

Someone with more money than sense obviously. Does A-log or anyone like him have a lot of money? lol

I don't see how this is regurgitated content. I've read every thread title from the beginning this week, and lots of threads. If someone mentioned making a movie or kickstarter, I didn't see where it was the main point of any thread. This is about a particular person's attempt to make a film. Not the fly-by-nighter that merely wanted to back in April, did nothing and was never heard from again. I don't know how long the campaign has been posted. It will be interesting to see how much, if any, money is raised as we get closer to September. I'm not involved in the campaign. I know no one that is. I won't be giving to the campaign either. I have not spoken in favor of or against the campaign. This person may very well get her $20,000. Something could be produced. Wouldn't you prefer to be aware of the effort from the beginning? I would like to see OPL propelled into the mainstream. I'd like to share the story with friends and strangers. When you meet someone new at work, it should be as likely you could talk about CWC as easily as you may discuss Breaking Bad. If this person can do that with her film, then more power to her. It won't be my product, and if it sucks, oh well.
I certainly wouldn't know where to start with a film about CWC. Neither documentary or 'based on a true story' would be easy to pull off. He's not going to cooperate, and neither will Megan, Snyder, et al. If you don't have his permission, I'd assume you'd only be able to come so close to telling his story without getting sued (by either Megan, CWC or any of these people). And if you change enough of it, then it's no longer his story.

Every other time someone floated an idea like this they were mocked until they quit the forum in tears.

I'm not saying you will too, but you will too.

I enjoyed the Sonichu Media Essay thing and I legitimately would enjoy watching a professionally-made documentary about him (even if Chris, Barb, etc play no role in the documentary and absolutely no new information is revealed), but yeah, this thing is not going to happen. It's pretty hard to raise funds on these Kickstarter sites, and yes, you have to completely meet your donation goal in order to see any of the money. They mentioned traveling, where were they thinking of going? Flying from Boulder, Colorado to Ruckersville/Charlottesville? I could see them maybe filming parts of downtown Charlottesville, but it would be weird if they showed up with professional recording equipment and swarmed 14BC like a SWAT team.

seriously bro thirty seconds

This may as well be a scam. I'm pretty sure that because it's on Indiegogo means that even if someone donated just 1 cent means that they are donating 1 cent that will not be seen again if this project does not succeed in reaching it's goals. Kickstarter would at least give back the contributor's money if the goals weren't met. Even if the person behind the project is serious about making this documentary, it's not gonna go anywhere since she won't get any interviews from Chris and Barb. She might if Chris didn't become paranoid in thinking that everyone is potentially a troll whose going to mock him and bring stress. If the person behind the project is serious about this, she may as well just use the CWCki. It has many articles on Chris such as his health, his (lack of) knowledge on industry, the sagas he endured, and the videos ranging from phone calls with Alec to how he would fight Clyde Cash. Speaking of using the CWCki, we pretty much have the CWCki to refer to since it documents Chris from the sagas down to his grasp on subjects like death and women. In short, this documentary is either a scam or a failure.
